Thanks for explaining the camera distance prez. Also wondering about the brightness in terms of which has more white leds? Units with more white leds will look brighter, so perhaps the chrome has more white in it?

ya i cant tell ya the spectrum ratio breakdown cuz they have a proprietary "OptiGrow" blend but spectrums they list are:

Deep Blue - 450nm
Blue - 470
Red - 620nm
Deep Red - 665nm
Warm White- 430-700nm

I gotta say if I'm looking at those two pics and don't know which is which... the Chrome's the one I'm going with. If I were going for a one or two light solution and wanted better coverage maybe the solarflare then.... I kind of concur with puffenuff -- it seems like the solarflare is no brighter than the chrome even on the wider circle... I would think it would be brighter. Kinda wishing I'd waited and got chromes. I can just imagine having a 3 x 3 cube of those... mmmmmmmmmmmm can't wait to get my new grow set up.

I usually give my seeds up to two weeks to sprout up before declaring them goners. It shouldn't take that long, but I've had a few pop up later than others so if its an expensive seed I will give it enough time to make sure.
Well I just had one pop while I was reading your reply than for the advice I may have just came in and started planting new seeds and it wouldn't have had time to pop

hard to tell in person but even thou most of its leds are in the red/orange spectrum the solarflare produces a more natural daylight looking color, but the blackstar is a heavy purple with almost no white light

Next grow will be a cabinet full of Secret Garden Seeds Pinkbud x Fruit Salad Autoflowering plants, hope to get 8 plants in cab in air-pots so we'll see 4 under solarflare and 4 under chrome and see how they do.

man am I glad I found this thread! you guys freakin rock! thank you for starting this thread! anyway, guess i'll jump on the BS LED bandwagon lol just ordered two BS 500w LED's and am kinda having buyers remorse:confused: using a 10ft (w) x 5ft (d) x 6 1/2ft (h) tent and not sure if the two BS 500w are going to be enough for this amount of space? do I need one more making it three total? or should I have gone with two BS 600w or two BS 900w? any suggestions on BS LED's? pLeAsE HeLp!
thanks, LED users unite!:peace:

personally i think you would need more than 2 of any of those units, 4 "500w" bs's might do the trick , but ya gotta remeber these panels dnt run at 500w they run closer to 300w .... so do the math right, 1200w in a 10x5x6 is about right where you wanna be and you should be producing some nice numbers out of there :D cheers man hope this helps .

Yeah 2 are probably not going to cover such a big space. That's a pretty big space to grow in you'd need at least 2 600ws for that much space and even that would be stretching it.... 4 blackstars or other LED would be closer to ideal like curly said

you guys are awesome! thank you so much for your help! you guys are totally right! so in summary, four BS 500w's will do the trick for sure, right? ouch! that could be expensive:( what do yall think about three BS 600w's instead? or possibly a dif LED all-together? been using this as a guide http://ledgrowlightsreview.org/ but am limited with $$ any LED recommendations for my 10x5x6 space would be much appreciated. peace-out LED unite-rs :peace:

since your space is so spread out i think 4 is your magic number man , if you give the guys at gotham a call direct im sure they will cut you a deal as they did just bring out a new line of lights , i would give em a ring tell them your looking for 4 bs "500w" or whatever and say whats the best deal you could get it to me for.... worth a try and i bet he will drop it a bit for sure. or take a look at viparled they have 200w or 300w models both true wattage and both priced pretty good..... if im not to be mistaken there is a sale on them right now too :D come by and check my grow its in my sig these panels are woopin some ass :)

true-dat bro! great advice! thanks man! i just tried calling and got vm :-( checked out the viparled as well, look pretty nice. u think they're better than BS 500w's? they sure are allot more cost effective ;-) wow ur girly's are lookin mighty mighty fine! I admire they way LED's bring out her natural beauty, bravo  btw- what light cycles are best for LED?

in my opinion yes vipar units are nicer/better built/ better quality for sure , black star is know for being cheap and they only have a 1 year warranty , ive seen a blakstar unit opened up and it look just that , very cheap but thats not to say they dont work .....just how long before they break down? give vipar a ring or drop em an email they love to chat about there panels over there and if your looking for 4 units they might even cut ya a little bit of a deal , like i say i think they got a spring promotion on right now or something ...might be over

sweet! I'll def check with vipar for sure! I have a call in-to BS as well to see if I can work a deal  on another note, do the light cycles differ from hid&hps? what would u recommend from veg to flower?:? thanks for your help brutha:bigjoint:

same light cycles man , some have said leds take longer to finish in flower .... i have seen no evidence of this ...if it does effect how long the plants take it by a very small amount , couple things your gonna wanna look into is that watering with leds ca be different as the plants tend to take up less water with them and also your gonna need calmag suppliment it is a necessary part f led growing ... besides that it will be a bit of a learning curve but you will get the hang of it quick , feel free to drop questions any time , cheers man
