I'm looking at changing from HPS to LED's but I don't want to spend a fortune on them straight away so I'm wondering what is out there at a decent price just to see if it's worth the switch. Any help would be much appreciated. Tent will be 2x2x2

Mars Hydro ts600, this girl has 2 of them in a 32"x32"x54" tent. About 80.00 a piece, can find them cheaper sometimes.

What size tent? In metric or standard preferably.

I'd get one of the 150 watt knock offs with samsung/meanwell. There are some killer deals sometimes, many of which get posted here in the "deals" thread. I'd say skip the Mars Hydro TS600, I have one and I'll be upgrading soon-it's okay but the thing runs freakishly hot. I don't think it even has a driver.

I am guaranteeing you if you go with the advice given above with 150 Watts LED then you wlll be massively disappointed, for perspective I veg seedlings under a 90w LED so you want 400w minimum IMO.
it's a 2x2 tent. nobody in there right mind would put 400w of leds in a tiny space like that. 400w led will do a 4x4 tent, which is 4 times the size of a 2x2. I am talking true watts, not "feels like" watts.

True but side lighting could be added to up the wattage, I open up my sides and add sidelighting but understand not everyone can do this

The TS600 has DOB or Driver On Board, it's those little black SMDs or Surface Mount Devices.
It's inferior to a proper and separate driver and is one of the reasons the TS600 has poor efficacy and runs hot.

Is the tent really 2x2x2?!?!? I don't know how to grow that small. Maybe with sidelighting strips or something. Lights suggested here all have needs for clearance/hanging, ad to that the height of pots and you're not left with any space for your plants. Growing this small doesn't make sense unless you gotta get weed and there are absolutely no way of buying. Get a bigger tent

Has to be a typo....... Or he's practicing for the party cup comp? bongsmilie

guessing also its a typo and its a 2x2x4, the 4 feet are really needed to flower a plant, even scroged and using led lights.

seems there are quite some alternatives to a ts600 which seems to me kind of a pimped middle ground light bulb, at least it uses more then just a resistor and many leds in series.

All y'all can bite my ass, keep bagging on the ts600. vegged and flowered under 2 of them no problems with them running hot. All four I own are great. Even entry level lights can produce fire.
