I was going to hold off on this update until sunday, but the growth has been impressive enough to warrant it. Furthermore, i have added a few more plants to the room. Undergone a plant transplant. (i took the DS out of that square looking pot, and put it into bag. It's still recovering from the nuteburn...so i don't know how it'll do. It seems to be improving...but its growth has been stunted. I got the DS and Bubblegum at the same time)

I also was expecting to get my hands on one more clone for the final bag, but when i went to buy one clone, the guy was extremely generous and gave me more than a couple.

I didn't want to throw away the babies, (they are Shiva Skunk B) so i ended up putting two in one bag, and doubled up the other with the DS.

So that brings my plant total to 6. I'm definitely considering training (with strings) the plants that are sharing a bag, so i can prevent them from overlap etc. Also i'm not going to let them(the pots that have 2 plants in them) grow that big either...no more than say 10-14 inches.... By then i'm hoping the bubblegum(back left) and HSSSB(back right), is well above that height (they should be). Again these figures are just estimates. In one of the pictures i have 3x5 inch flashcard to give you an idea of scale. So the BB is around ~6ish inches right now. All plants under 24 hours of only LED light. I still haven't figured out how to mount the 2 23w T5's i removed (well i haven't given it much thought either). They are only effective if they are EXTREMELY close.

I also watered today. The plants only need to be watered about once a week...if not less. Very low maintenance. Its almost as if they don't exist? lol. Oh since i got the other 3 clones recently i don't know if they have transplanted properly yet...so stay tuned.

Oh eventually i'll have pictures of the plants with the lights off. Give me some time. I'm lazzzzy stoner. :wall:

I'll hopefully induce flowering within 2-3 weeks.:leaf:

Next update sometime next week.

Depends on the LED lights you are using. I'm using 100 watts... The market is flooded with a lot of poor quality products. You should search some LED forums and figure out what suits your grow area/space/budget. Please read some of the links posted in my earlier posts they will answer the questions you seek. I don't have time/patience to double post information thats been mentioned elsewhere.

They don't get hot at all (the light has a heat sink on it, and its warm to touch), But i still run a fan for air circulation, because stagnant air is never ideal.

Let this also go out to those that will ask info to "help them purchase their LEDs" --- I'm not going partake/involve myself in that discussion, so please don't post asking me questions that you should look up yourself. I'm lazy.

Final note: If you have less that 5 posts made, please don't spam my grow journal with: ZOMG LEDS ARE AWESOME (or any bullshit of that sort). I'm not trying to establish my journal as a haven for noobies that just want to push LEDs because they are flamed on every post. Again, if you want to debate, take it elsewhere. I really want to have a RIU stress/drama free grow.

yeah no shit huh:???:
"Do not post in other people's grow journals unless asked"

i don't mind people posting constructive criticism, serious advice, etc but i just don't want LED debates to take over my grow that's all.

I hope people understand...

i've read tons of forums, and i'm just trying to avoid it.

Don't get me wrong. I appreciate the support, and positive comments--- i really do. I just don't want to misguide or offend anyone.

You're more then welcome to comment---just try to keep it constructive/relevant.

:-P

Hey, I know I am rather new to this site so I feel like you are talking to me too. I'm not trying to be a dick and ruffle feathers as there seems to be enough of that around here, I just wanted to 'say hey' as a fellow LED enthusiast.

I have some pics to share, but they are nothing spectacular.

The Bubblegum and HSSSB (the two larger plants) are within maybe 6 inches of the light. I noticed some wrinkly leaf growth and instead of encouraging short bushy growth, i would like them to grow taller so i ended up dropping the plants 4 inches to mitigate any wrinkly leaves and promote more vertical growth.

Of the 3 new SSB clones, i would say two seem to be doing well. The 3rd one is lagging, but is hanging in there. Little runt. The DS, which i nute burned in the beginning seems to be bouncing back but very slowly. I see some new nodes and an increased vertical growth. Also the lush darker green color seems to be returning...however i don't want to jinx it just yet.

the bubblegum is a beast. i'm thinking about pruning the lower branches on the bubblegum...any suggestions...should i wait longer? or would it be better to cut them now?

thanks for the support guys. appreciate the remarks.

I have figured out why the DS has been struggling...the newt burn is part of the problem...but looking into the old soil that the clone was in, i noticed a bunch of small little white looking "creatures" running amok. Instantly it hit me that the possibility of a gnat infestation might be the cause of the stunting....the newt burn just temporarily compounded the situation. Been reading up on "how to get rid of gnats" and i like this one i found...

"Once the soil is dry, mix 1 part hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) solution with 4 parts water. Use 3% solution, which you can find in any drug store or in the hygiene/medicine aisle of a chain grocery store. You can use a stronger solution if you change the water mixture appropriately, and don't be too concerned with proportions; it would take a very high concentration of H2O2 to hurt your plants. Just make sure you buy pure H2O2 with no chemical additives! Hydrogen peroxide is often sold as a topical disinfectant, and things that are good for your wounds may not be so healthy for your plants.
Water your plants as you normally would, using the hydrogen peroxide solution and taking care to get good coverage of the entire top layer of soil. Use a spray bottle if desired. The soil will fizz for a few minutes after application; this is natural. The gnat larvae die on contact with the H2O2. After a few minutes the fizzing stops and the H2O2 breaks down into oxygen molecules (which your plants don't mind) and water molecules (which your plants love)."

however i am also just thinking of going to the hydro shop and buying some sort of gnat killer.

The DS is responding well after the transplant, but i'm almost 90% certain that some larvae might joined her in the move. I rather eliminate the infestation before it spreads to my other babies. Probably going to take care of this soon.

fucking gnats.:finger:

I just fimmed two of the plants. The Bubblegum and HSSB. I'm wondering how long should i wait before i induce flowering. I'm hoping to get more than two top cola's...so when would it be ideal to put them into flowering after a fimming. My friend was mentioning something about waiting at least a week and half. I'm hoping to put them in flowering at around 16-18 inches.

I'm still debating if i want to put the DS even into flowering (into flowering when i put everything into flowering)...i was thinking of getting a few clones off it cuz supposedly its an pretty good cross and produces some fucking crazy looking bud. I have yet to determine how this plant will behave under an LED setting because in the pamphlet it looked INSANE.

Deep Chunk X Strawberry Cought = DS.

Very quick flowering time, low yeilding, ultra resinous...i'm anxious...but the clone cost me 20...so i'm thinking of getting a few off the Mum... then SoG a constant supply...maybe transplant 2-3 every week into one gallon bags.

...i don't know yet. Fuck man i'm a confused grower.

Any suggestions?

PS. I hope fimming them at 1 foot height wasn't a mistake. :-o

The plants are looking great for the most part. I watered 2 of them yesterday. I water them by weight and moisture meter. I watered the lightest two with 500mL in the lightest, and 250ish mL in the other. They look simply beautiful....The one taken out is the bubblegum. The HSSB is the best growing one, however it was further back and i didn't want to take it out. I rearranged the placing of them (if you look at previous images) UL: SS-B & SS-B, UR: HSSB, LL: Bubblegum, LR: DS and SS-B.

6 plants total. I'm just waiting on the two i fimmed to start showing some new shoots so i can induce flowering. Hopefully by fimming those 2 (Bubblegum and HSSB) It will give some time for the others to catch up in height. :blsmoke:

the two tallest ones are exceeding one foot.

the plants are doing well. The fimming has slowed down vertical growth allowing the later added clones to catch up. Also the secondary growth is starting to look amazing on the bubble gum. The new nodes are being drawn upwards to the light. The site where i fimmed is showing growth although i have no idea how many top cola's im getting so far. As long as its more then one, i'll be happy. I'm waiting for my 70 watt HPS to arrive so i can set things into flowering. I'm hoping that will happen within the next few days. New pic update coming soon.:blsmoke:

You topped the plants, the best way to count the main colas will be to count your internodes and multiply times two. (twon added branches at each internode) for those plants.

Some that you leave untopped will develop a main cola and bunches of underside bottom colas (I call em rockets) nd some will just have one huge cola. It's fun to see how they come out.
