Isn't that pretty much the same recommendation as DE?

What do you think of this led spectrum??

Red heavy probably bloom well. I'd like to see more action in the lower 600s and more blue a few 4000k 70cri would round it out nicely.

DE is usually used over 24 SQ ft or so. Sometimes more. The Mammoth tent designed for a single Gavita is roughly that. It's 2 SQ meters.

Quantum board 3000k would go great too !

where is a good place to get a deal on a meanwell hlg-320 driver? also, i see a lot of different models of the 320... is there one that is recommended over the others. i see dimmable (which i want), but other than that i am not sure what i am looking for.

I grew under a "300w" galaxyhydro (really 130w) that had this crazy ass spectrum

Pulled 1.3 grams per watt under it my last grow I did with it. So about 170 grams dried. Here's the plant (strain was fruity chronic juice). The yield includes 1/3 of the double alien 18 i had in the middle.

For some reason, that plant didnt stretch a whole lot. It was 90% indica though. But i had one plant (txomango) stretch over 1000% bigger after flipping under it. Indica dom too.

This was day 1 of flower for the txomango (had to flip because the other plant was getting fuckin huge and i was in DWC). Txomango is on the right under that really red blurple :)

And this is day 25 of flower....

FUCK THAT LOL!

Skoomd, you are the poster child to prove that China Box Blurples can run right with Cob / QB's :hump:

Heh. I mean they work, so hey!

I love LEDs so much because I started growing with those blurples after a few years hiatus, and I dont know why but I was pulling some fat yields with them. Like I knew most people were pulling like only 0.5 gram per watt, if that. Knowing they were around the efficiency of HPS, I was surprised to see as high as 1.3 grams per watt. I was kind of pissed because I, like most, bought those LED panels thinking they would use less power than HPS and output the same. But a week after I got em I learned that they're pretty much on par with HPS watt for watt. So I felt ripped off. guess it served as motivation to try to do well with them :) Only paid like $150-180 for both panels and had 420 actual watts. So it wasnt a total loss I'd say. Sold them on ebay for $100 after the 3 grows I did under em too.

And I was shocked that I never had a single diode burn out on me. Bless!

I honestly am not sure why you are not pursuing high quality nm specific builds vs white converted chip with the results you were getting.
Clearly there is something to a nm specific light recipe.
I would be more influenced by plant performance than "electrical efficiency"

It's always in the back of my head when im thinking about LEDs. I am moving into a bigger house and will be able to have 3 tents and my plan is to do a lot of tests with difference spectrums, starting with doing an LED vs DECMH clone comparison. Because you're right about plant performance. We're really getting efficient with todays LEDs, and frankly once you have a setup pushing over 2.3 umol/joule, more efficiency becomes way less important. Like if you can replace a 1000w HPS with 600w of LEDs, how much better REALLY would it be replacing a 1000w hps with 400w instead? And it will be at least a couple years before that happens economically. So i would love to do my own research on how spectrum comes into play. Because no matter how efficient LEDs get, the spectrum is always going to play the same role on the plants. And i dont hear of anyone having heat issues with these current gen LEDs, nor complaining of their electrical bill so chasing the efficiency is just not going to be as important.

Hey guys,
It's my first time growing MJ
I'm growing right now in about 32" x 32" x 47" tent, and I've the Roleadro 300w LED but I"m growing more than 2 plants.
I've posted a thread two weeks ago here about the equipments that I have, and someone said the grow tent won't fit for 3 plants and I should buy another LED cuz the actual watts on my LED light is too low to grow 2 plants.
So, I decided to move the 3rd plant to my closet and I will buy another LED with higher watts like 600w or even 1000w since the watts is low on Roleadro.
Also, I'm going to use the Roleadro to my closet and put the other one that I'm going to buy in my tent, which it will have my other 2 plants.
the closet Dimension 38" x 21" x 65".

Any suggestions?

Check cobs diy, you can use cobs to augment the light you allready have, and cob it up in the next tent

I’ve have this meanwell driver.
What I want to do is use it to run a Photon fantom board I already have.
( any idea why Photon Fantom Designs site Is down??)
I am running this board now with a meanwell 60 watt driver in my 2.5 square foot cab.
@60 watts comes out to a little under 30 watts square foot.
Useing the above driver I wish to dim it down to 80 watts, putting my wattage at 38 watts psf.
I don’t want to use a heat sink ( I’m not now)
Will this work???
What type pot should I use to as a dimmer??
How do I check the wattage output???
Thanks

Sometimes one must just try
You can grow 2 plants with that light
Will need to do some lst but it can be done.
Everyone here has a opinion but your opinion should be based on your experience.
Yes that light will grow 2 plants
Trees??
No.
Plants???
Yes.
If your gonna buy a new light ( or diy one) one should shoot for 250-300 actual watts in your 32 inch x 32 inch tent.
That’ll give you approx 35-40 watts per square foot.
Such is about where one wants leds to be fore best efficiency.

hey all.

I run a 300 watt 6 led light. Home made.
The leds are Cree cxb 3590 3500k.
Well, today one of the cone shaped hoods fell off the led. A hook(one of 3) on the plastic holder part broke off.
It has been a while... There are 3 parts to an led light...right?
1 is the led chip
1 is the holder
1 is the mount.
Right.
The mount is the broken part?
