LBH's SCrog Tutorial

Depends on how many plants youll be using to fill the screen. Remember, whats below is whats up top (amount of root=amount of bud)

Well I have two race way tables and each will have a 3 x 9 screen and that is where I get the 6 x 9 canopy. I do not mind running bigger pots... I just do not want it to not go to waste. This is drain to waste and I want to be sure the roots are happy.

Looking at no more than two plants per 3 x 3 square.

What do you recomend?

Thanks again for all the help.

My plante have been veging for 4 weeks. Is TOPPING necessary? All my plants are way passed the 5th leaf they are more like on the 13th leaf. Is it to late to top? Can i do the scrog without topping or should I just not do scrog?

It's not necessary but highly recommended. You can top any time during veg but to follow this particular technigue, you need to do it as early as possible. You CAN still scrog but you'd probably be better off just growing it out and trying with the next one.

I joined this forum after finding this great tutorial on the internet. Just wanted to ask a couple of questions before i start:
-my veg area is in my attic, and the attic door/ceiling hole is only about 18inches wide by 2 foot long, meaning the maximum dimension of the scrog screen is slightly under - is that enough screen size to make it worth the while? Or would i get better results just from lsting? How long would it take veg-wise to fill this screen?
- do you fill every hole in the screen, or just the majority of them? I can imagine there being a point where the horizontal growth exceeds the size of the screen - do you cut it off, or bend it round and back towards the screen again?
-is there any reason why the holes are 2.5 inches apart? Why not less, since only a branch needs to come through it?

1-fine for 1 plant

2- fill the screen about 60-70% and then flip em

3-2.5 inches is perfect for spacing them out just enough but not too much

Go for it bro! We use 4x4 screens, never gonna fill it with an auto but if you're packing multiple ones under 1 screen I don't see why it wont work. This probably isnt the best scrogging technique for that however. Run some and come back and fill us in!!

Grow 'em up!!

hey thanks for the tutorial :) this is my first grow I've got a lot of plants and a couple questions for ya if you don't mind. I was thinking of combining sog and scrog. reason being I've got 80 clones and 2 4'x8' beds so 40 each bed and less than 1 sqft/plant. I was thinking of shorter veg and using a screen to even the canopy? so my question is should I top them with a shorter veg and less room/plant? when should topping be done? (what's too soon for rooted clones and how much veg do they generally need after topping to recover before flowering?) also should I lower the screen a bit with a shorter veg time and just pull the tops over letting light to the lower branches? I think i'm a bit late for topping this round but maybe next if I have a better idea of what I'm doing. they're already about 8-9" and 1.5 wks into veg. was thinking of getting the screen on and pulling tops over, another week or so of veggin then flower? thanks man. also in case you would suggest a different method, the reason for more plant/less veg is we have a 300 plant limit, are doing our own clones, and are trying to get as many rounds in before march when our med program changes and we can't grow anymore. so we want as short of veg as possible but still yield and don't have a plant limit for our space.

What you are running is called a SOG grow, totally different. I'd leave the set up as is and just run em. adding screens to that would be a ton of work for very little increase in yield IMO

During stretch, should I be pulling & keeping EVERYTHING down until halfway through the stretch, or should I be tucking the primaries, letting the secondary growth penetrate the cage and start getting some size?

anything that gets 3" above the cage gets pulled under and moved "out" another square,....fill the gaps

I'm guessing you guys use feminized seeds for this scrog method? You said it is not for clones and what a drag it would be to "4 -way" top a plant only to have it go male.

Is there a scrog method for clones or is it better to do a sog with many lollypopped clones? Great thread by the way. Appreciate your time and efforts.

Sog and scrog being 2 different style, I really cant give a recommendation there, Ive never run a sog. Correct, fem seeds

You sir are an inspiration. Gonna build 2 scrog nets today :). How big are the holes in the net? 3"x3"?
I assume you can vary it pretty easily, but I'm just looking for a good starting point.
