from the outside, much of mal's post was intended to clarify a history for bob and marty as they were going at it kinda. aside from other details, sounds like Marty got burned in the perfect storm a few yrs back while trying to get involved and make a difference for our mmj community. it was nice to see Mal recognize this and even offer an apology of sorts.

been watching this movie:eyesmoke: fairly closely for a few yrs now, I probably read less than 1/2 of what's on the net about Michigan's mmj development, although I have above average retention and intuition... so basically, i know my shit. :blsmoke: one day soon, I'll pound a pot of coffee and publish my final conclusions. until that time, imo, assume nothing. the truth (mostly my-truth, not marty's, mal's, stow's, bloody', bob's, timmah's or buckaroos), my truth... will set us free!

peace to each and everyone of u scoundrels!

bullshit!!

the dispensary folks know and realize that there has not been many sec8 cases challenging their MO and the fewdispensary folks that wererailroaded thru the system had to take plea deals as with so many other pateients

we are all exposed to the lawyers greed now and if we want protections we have to pay thru the nose to get a plea deal....ha!

outside grows will be somthing to see this year how many get trapped into thinking they are protected and have rights-

dr bob-- another whole thread of his bs and his efforts are weak at best and transparent and avail nothing for patients except his fucked up trolling to sign up more folks in his clinics

Malamute,

You talk about people coughing up big bucks to form your group, and I'm supposed to believe that you guys exist solely to protect patients rights?

I don't know you from Adam, but I know the human condition, and greed rules. I find it very hard to believe that you represent what you say you represent without any ulterior motives.
I totally understand your skepticism and and appreciate it.

I will say putting this group together wasn't the easiest thing in world. We had to find people willing to give of their time for no money, Give us money to pay for expenses, and support a purist view of doing this for the right reasons; To protect the law, to support patients interests, to help physicians, and to be the eyes of the community watching out for groups, people, or politicians who could be harmful to the intent and language of the Act.

Amazingly, through a lot of hard work, we were able to find enough people willing to agree and actually sign onto these core principles that we put forward.

Since then, we have fully established our positions by filing with the Federal government our very strict by-laws, principles, positions and by doing so, we must execute those by-laws and rules under penalty of law if we do not carry out our duties as a 501(c)4 organization exactly as stated within our corporate paperwork. We did this so it could not be taken over by any nefarious characters even if at some time the founders move on to doing other things with their life. :-)

Sometimes I pinch myself that we actually managed to make it work. To me, it so fukn cool and I only wish others could appreciate it the way I do.

So, yea,... I TOTALLY get your skepticism. I would feel the same way and be asking the same questions. There are so many underhanded, backstabbing groups out there, why would CPU be any different?

I get it. All I can say is we are, and we made it so through hard work, selfless effort, and properly founding the organization so as no one can move away from our core principles or use the group for selfish advancement.

:-)

Hi bucky. Long time no talk. :-)

I would obviously disagree with most of what you said there, but you are entitled to your opinions.

I would very much disagree with most of what you seem to consider facts, but I don't have time to address all of your points.

We always encourage people to redress their grievances with their government. Every single citizen has a right to do so, and you will never see us tell you not to do so yourselves. I have made comments personally about the value/damage by doing so in certain formats and fashions. But, it is a right and we have never stood in the way of it for anyone. We actually encourage it... almost beg for more of it from more people.

Also, you did put 3000 people on the steps of Lansing. How did that work out for ya? Sure killed them bills. Pfft.... Don't be blaming me for your protest not working. I merely warned people that the dispensaries took it over and were pushing for ideas and topics I would guess most wouldn't agree with. But we did not stand int he way at all and actually offered help to only be told by the now dispensary led leaders of the protest we were not wanted. I had written up apledge to be used by everyone to try to get legislators to agree t their own platform to protect cannabis patients and leave the law as it is. But wtvr.

The other overriding message ya seem to send there is that because we have attorneys in our group that somehow we are corrupt or something? I find that interesting. Is it that you just hate these particular attorneys who do pro bono work for poor patients all over the state, or fight for our rights in State and federal courts while you sit and whine all day and actually do nothing of real value to advance the movement and protect the unprotected? That I find interesting of you to say. Again, I guess you are entitled to your opinion on these things, I just find it absurd. Attorneys represent people in court. Typically defense attorneys are defending criminals. Who cares if an attorney is representing a murderer, a rapist or a dispensary(notice the list...heh). They're an Attorney.

Ahh well...

I just simply disagree with you.

I have no idea how ya say "we" dragged anyone through anything. We simply exercised our Constitutional right to redress our government.

And it seems you are blaming the shortcomings of the law you voted on us. We didn't write it. Anything that you feel was unfair or sad about the MMMAct has nothing to do with us. Heck even if you wish to blame the amendments made on us(which is just silly) that stuff didn't even go into effect until APril 1st of this year. I guess the last 2 months is where all your angst comes from?

Heh.

We are obviously on different pages and understanding of what happened, what happens and how things are.

I will leave it at that.

For those who have criticized Mal, or for that matter anyone else, who worked hands on and spent money for advocacy and you did not, fuck you. Who else was at the capitol wandering the halls? Who else called and wrote their elected representatives? Who else called your rep or stopped by to say hello when s/he was in town doing local office hours?
I don't need anyone to defend me. I know exactly what I do and did and have a clear conscious completely.

People can have their opinions about CPU or myself. It's all good.

No members of CPU makes any money from CPU. Everyone pays the same for dues. Everyone has an equal vote. And all issues are decided on a consensus basis. The Board is dominated by patients. Really sick and compassionate patients at that.

No funny business here.

So let it be.

Not everyone can like ya in life. You just do your best and keep on truckin!

I find the disdain for profiteering in the MMJ community odd as we funnel so much cash into the legal community, simply tacking it on to our patients medication costs and for what?!? More legal battles and fees? Is there an actual end game here or is this just an opened ended bill for "services"? Lawfare sucks the life from everything except lawyers and politicians, it's a game without any true winners IMO.

Look B * B, you are doing more harm than good for CPU with your antagonism toward the people here, and for that matter anywhere you drag your sad ass. Maybe it is calculated to keep your name out in front for the purpose of hawking certs while providing little to no medical treatment. There may be more money and far less work involved. Then again, it certainly has to do with your self indulgent assholeness. Regardless, your bedside manner sucks.

CPU was in Lansing trying to get the language of the bills changed. So were the Prosecutor's Association and the MSP. Members of the committee and legislature lobbied for interests counter to ours. If not for CPU's efforts, along with the other testimony and lobbying on our behalf, the worst that was in the bills as proposed would have gotten much more traction. Provisions like handing over the registry to the police. I don't think that many to all of you who criticize and lay blame for some imagined cloak and dagger involvement on CPU's part have the slightest notion how things work in negotiating a bill through the legislature, and that you did not do a damn thing to influence the outcomes. Only if you did do you have the creds to criticize. Otherwise go get high and put on the headset while you enjoy the protections these peeps earned for you. I don't want to hear it.

yes long time ....i thought you guys would have enjoyed the hiatus.....and all the screen names-

prolly even longer for the next time-

suffice to say we will agree to disagree.....and let the dribble die

at least we have reached consensus:peace:

--bona fide dr relationships (w follow up visits)
--no felon cgs
--transport clauses(except for MSP who have a directive now to confiscate all medicine they find in vehicles)
--2yr cards(yeah!![??])

lets not forget no ""new conditions"" --capped
no more conditions panel--

any protections in there?
--just the weak shadow of the ones we voted for-

oh yeah--

--$$cg>to 5pts they are registered to-[if you can find 5sick\dying ""patients"" that will [pay] you-] (those should be free)
[mcqueen decision-not cpu]

--sec4 if you follow ALL the rules to the letter....ALL of them...(outside too??)
[voters initiative interpreted with the barest of latitudes--again not cpu]

--and then sec8 that is basically the same thing we had before all the lobbying...and law
except now you can pay the lawyers one fee w a card and anotherw/out if you have the $ to defend yourself and get a plea and never be able to grow your own medicine again--
[ahhh yes...the lawyers preffered defense legislation--not cpu]

yeah we have protections.........--->dont get caught up in some bullshit
....act like there is no law but enjoy the latitude of the numbers of folks doing the same thing

what latitudes does an average grower/patient/cg have....?? --none if their caught up or not signed up with one of the ""nice"" cpu lawyers

or --->>"plenty" if they are dispensary owners w""full set of cards"" --and have cpu lawyers on retainer-

i still believe shakespeare when it comes to lawyers....and i like his advice!!

i am my own "compassion club"

if making people aware awake and concious of other aspects causes harm for the cpu........(?) --well good!!

i feel ripped off and i want my $$back if i am supposed to be happy with the one lobbying groups efforts and the affect and work they did-

im not all warm and fuzzy inside about what help i think your "group" did---i see no "heros"

i saw lots of zeros in the vicious attacks i witnesed on patients/cgs/victims/advocates time and time again on your favorite site
by the "members" of your group...i felt their ""compassion""[sic]

--mayb you guys credibility or work aint as strong as you would have hoped for or are enjoying now-
seemsyou were out-lobbied....literally
--karma for a ""secret steak holders only" group....???

maybe ....just maybe........you guys are finally starting to see yourself as pawns on the board too.....
or your just too bored at the other place and need to ""chk"" the msg here--

yes no more reduced fees for indigents now either......nice compassionate legislation!

at least in the larger more relaxed urban areas
nice also to see the competition for the dispensary advocates

I don't think he is saying anything could have been done.

Seems as if he is just saying that all that stuff sucks in general and I could agree. :-)

That is what we fight against and to fix.

I would again disagree with a few of the points made. Such as follow up visits required, that all felons can't be caregivers, the pt/pt transfers being a result of McQueen(the law was not written originally to allow it) and a few other minor points. <edit> Just had to add that "indigents" still get the discount.

To me it just shows the position of a disgruntled patient and all the crapola that ticks em off.

And trust me,... I get it. It pissses me off too. That is I why I fight to make it better.

I can agree that in general terms, I hate lawyers. Heh. Any of us who have been through the court system and have paid them a new car knows how messed up the legal system is. It sux0r.

All I can do is take what ya said there bucky and try to help fix it or make it better. I need this kind of feedback to help guide me. :-)

Gave that up for blowing dead rats.

I have not been affiliated directly with any group in a loooong time. That said, there is a lot to respect in many of their people and in their dedication and hard work. If you haven't noticed, it is those who carp and whine while they sit on their dead asses and do nothing that I laugh at. There are mighty fine people I have had the pleasure to work with from different points of the compass, and I thank them. It has not always been pretty, but the satisfaction in pulling something workable out of the fire holds things together.

mishpocha \mish-PAW-khuh, -POOKH-uh\, noun:

an entire family network comprising relatives by blood and marriage and sometimes including close friends; clan.

Levinsky told him he didn't need a lawyer. "Dealing with us is like mishpocha. Who needs a lawyer to talk to mishpocha." Simon learned later they had cheated him, but who cares, who would have cared?
-- Arthur A. Cohen, In the Days of Simon Stern, 1973
“You can speak now. We're all mishpocha here and we got no secrets.”
-- Leon Uris, Exodus, 1958
Mishpocha entered English in the mid-1800s and comes from the Yiddish and Hebrew words for "family" or "clan."
*********

Bet there are a few (hundred) long time X- felons that have been marginalized by the recent first round of mini-tweaks to michigans mmj laws. What about them? I also wonder if all Caregivers can be next? seen it in other states, along w/ complete/total/ regulation... not my idea of an ideal future in a compassion 'industry'.

mishpocha \mish-PAW-khuh, -POOKH-uh\, noun:

an entire family network comprising relatives by blood and marriage and sometimes including close friends; clan.

The sad part is that activism has all but stopped. No patient groups testified at the last Judiciary Hearings regarding distribution. There is not the necessary oversight to see that LARA not make the administrative rules onerous, and the Governor is taking advantage of that to run his agenda. Pending the outcome of the TerBeek case in the SC, it may be necessary to address ordinances. The MMMA is not inclined to pick up that kind of activism again, for whatever reason. The conversation is evolving, and we don't have the boots on the ground necessary to keep up.

How do I give a rep?
