Just 158 families contributed half of all funding in 2016 elections

Just not enough to get a Democrat elected.

How do you explain that?
Trump was elected by racist white people. He won through the electoral college which favors smaller states, most of whom are populated by racist white people. If you want to use this strategy, go find a Republican who supports the issues you favor. Come to think of it, Bernie leans towards racism so maybe he should run as a Republican next time.

I keep saying that Bernie is OK, I like many of his policies but overall he is a divisive leader and his policies only affect economic issues and ignores women's issues, issues behind Black Lives Matter and other civil rights issues. Bernie is OK, but he's insufficient.

I'm sorry guys, I’m just sick of old white dudes. Go away.
You say he's OK- then you spend the next dozen posts bashing him.

You're just another establishment Democratic Party hypocrite.

Even your 'old white guy' thing is hypocritical; you'd vote for Joe Biden in a heartbeat and you've said so.

Funny, I don't recall any other presidential candidate ever getting arrested at civil rights protests. Gaslight much?

You're such a hypocrite.

Keep crying.

You bash politicians whose policies you say you support, then go around trashing anyone who doesn't fall in line with your quasi-authoritatarian 'or else!' drivel.

Face it; the Democrats have no spine because they've been bought by the same tiny few donors and can't stand up to them.

It's disgusting, really. They turned their backs on their self described middle class constituents for mere pennies on the dollar of what Republicans get for doing the same thing.

I didn't get Trump elected; Clinton and the DNC saw to that. Instead of owning up to that fact, you're still thrashing about like a fish on the deck, blaming anyone you can for the towering failures of your party.

Keep crying. The more you do, the more obvious it is to all that you know I'm right.
Keep crying?
When you going to stop crying and admit Sanders lost to Clinton.
And then you helped Trump get elected.

Politics is not geometry. Your insistence on pushing the narrative that Bernie lacks support among women and people of color has been thoroughly debunked, repeatedly.

Saying otherwise just outs you as a liar.

Doing it to someone who supports and even introduces legislation you say you support just proves how deeply your hypocrisy runs.

Go vote Republican. I hear they're fine with hypocrites.
Well it's true. Clinton actually beat Trump when it came to the vote but she lost in the electoral college vote. But you've called her the worst candidate ever. Then again, Bernie lost to her. That makes him worse. Logical arguments aren't restricted to geometry. Not that you know anything about either.

So you just make shit up according to what you want. Like your nutty conspiracy theory that EVERY Democratic Caucus Senator voted for the Repeal of Citizen's United because they "knew it couldn't pass into law". (you presented this theory without evidence)

Got it.

Why are you advocating people vote for Republicans? Are you some right wing troll?

You're such a hypocrite.
If he's such a supporter of civil rights, why did Black Lives Matter protesters have to crash his rally? Why weren't they invited to speak as they had requested. If he is such a supporter of civil rights, why did he give BLM the cold shoulder over and over again?

you are such a hypocrite

I'd vote for Bernie or Biden if they win the Democratic Party's nomination. I've said I'd prefer somebody who is younger. The more you hate on her, the more I like Kamala Harris.

I'm an old white guy probably like you but have 20 friends 18 to 25 years old that roll threw.Every one of these young people that support Bernie are lazy and looking for something for nothing. You appear to me to be someone that wasn't very successful in life and want others to support you.

Trump won because Clinton and the DNC could not conceal their contempt for the needs of middle class Americans and lost to a lying clown.

Your assertion that Bernie is a racist is just as much of a lie. You smear as hard as you can, yet out of the other side of your mouth you say he's 'OK'.

You are a complete hypocrite. Go vote Republican and while you're at it, quit yapping about old white men as if you aren't one yourself.

that article is heavily skewed and purposely vague for shock and awe sake. do i think we live in a democracy? not really, but let me explain why this article is misleading anyway. first off it says 158 families and the companies they control. well these are publicly traded companies and in some cases even commodities or traders, but again almost all exclusively publicly traded. so when a company is publicly traded no patriarch of a single family is donating this money. as a matter of fact it would be just as likely that a company would contribute counter to it's founder as with them. it is a disgrace imo the new york times would even sponsor such utter non journalism, in a an attempt to sensationalize some sorta iluminati BS. only ignorance would lead ppl to think how amazon contributes is how jeff bezos contributes or that all donations from google reflect the beleifs of larry page and sergey brin.
tbh, anyone who would give even an ounce of credibility to this story just doesn't understand anything about how a publicly traded enterprise level company is structured and who is and is not authorized to spend money on political contributions. the irony is a company often invests for one thing via one department or subsidiary and against the same thing in others lol. none of them support one side accross the board and it is largely because the right hand often has no idea what the left is doing.

So the fact that they can magnify their influence through the giant corporations they control makes it just fine?!

Nevermind that corporations are not citizens and therefore should have no say in who runs our country.

I categorically reject your logic. Even if it was 16000 families, 100 times as many people, it would still represent .01% of the country or less. The economic polarization of our society is intimately connected to the ability of these same tiny few to control who governs us.

At best you're splitting hairs. At worst you're supporting corporate led totalitarianism.

What she said

Uh, Bernie Sanders fall back...your year was 2016 and it really wasn’t, please get away from us. It’s not going to happen. I think it's like fetch. It's not going to happen. He's also--I think you’re disheveled, you’re unlikeable, and your pushy. And I don't think you should be leading anybody if you couldn’t control your campaign and what your employees were doing and harassing and paying women unfairly in your campaign I don’t know why you would lead your country or think you can.

We saw that with the flipping of the House and everyone voting, everyone's really excited with young, female candidates, especially women of color.

We need men to get as excited about women as women are and that’s the only way to do real change.

I'm sorry guys, I’m just sick of old white dudes. Go away.

Her opinion is reflected time and again when it comes to women talking about why they don't prefer to support Bernie. Yes, I'm over thirty, white and male, so, agree I can be called an old white man but I'm as excited about the women candidates showing up for the primary as women are. I'm tired of old white men like Brett Kavaugh, Trump and Bernie Sanders who simply brush women's issues under the carpet.

Why hasn't Bernie done anything to address the issues raised by women who worked for him on his campaign in 2016?

I'm sorry guys, I’m just sick of old white dudes. Go away.

man i am not going down this rabbit hole with you because you have already jumped too far down it. however you can disagree all you want, and assign control to any number of families you want, the faxct is more money comes from PAC's and enterprise corps than via private family donations. the problem is the same regardless so there is even lesss of a point to argue about it. the fact is money controls politics not ppl or democracy. if you want to argue about if it is 158 familes or an arsenal of PAC's then you are wasting your time imo

The Supreme Court ruled with Citizen's United to overturn most campaign finance reform laws and makes it impossible to restrict corporations from making huge donations to candidates. In 2015, every Democratic Caucus Senator voted in favor of repealing the Citizen's United ruling and every Republican Senator sustained their filibuster of this measure. Why do you continue to support Republicans?

More weak smears that ignore the facts. Bernie stepped right up to the mic, took responsibility and apologized to women who were hurt by those working in his campaign. Show me what more honorable than that. You can't, because you're an inveterate hypocrite and serial liar.
