july start/hybrid height

a long time since outdoor for me
but inside growing has me in another zone, so time for advice
just sprouted a 50/50 hybrid that indoors(with minimum veg) would be a 2 footer
that's a cfl micro grow, it works for me
at my latitude, from July 4th i'm guessing about 3 weeks veg, then flower, maybe
which would be similar to my indoor grows, but i'm guessing bigger than 2 feet
topping is my current plan, but have never done it in this setting

Don't know what your question is but depending on your location 3 week veg outside? Then your going to force flower by taking it inside?

thanks for looking, it gets a thread going
my question is just how tall a MJ plant would get if started outside on July 4th will get at my latitude, which i think is around 45 degrees
i'm thinking it will start to flower in early august, being a 50/50 sativa/indica hybrid
i was going to post a pic but it was half eaten upon sprouting! this is the essence of outdoors, struggle every bit of the way

EDIT: and this is an outdoor grow all the way, veg and flower

At 45N I'd think that you'd be in veg well into the 2nd half of August. I'm at ~41N and (barring abnormal weather) my plants typically don't go into flower until roughly 1st-2nd week of August. I start them inside for ~25 days under CFLs and then out in their holes they go. Hope that helps.

thank you ezmoover, excellent info, sounds about right, i was leaning a little on the optimistic side
though i have seen a few posts that a seedling started late may ripen a little sooner
i'll see how it goes, assuming it lives that long, more of a fun grow to feel the outdoor experience again

might as well document this, though i think my chances of a good result are slim
it's not pretty, seedling was insect raped within 12 hours of sprouting
cup collar for some protection, did seem to help

^^^ thanks for that, 6 footer - that's what i can't afford to have in this spot
thinking a 2 footer would be great, so topping sounds more likely, have to watch the take off on this seedling

i update logs, even the bad ones, and this one reminds me of my good old days outdoors
a 90% kill rate wasn't unusual, and this new outdoors experience is simlilar
my first sprout was half eaten, well, some other bug finished the job, el morto
but i had sprout in wet towel, and it had sprouted a good 4 inches! had green coytledons, like a mini plant ready to go
it got eaten too, f'ing bugs
but the flower start is still a few weeks off, some time left, think this 3rd seedling will be indoors for a little while, then the bugs will probably get that one too
well, i remember why indoor has been so good, but you can't beat outdoors for drama

Yep. Gotta plan for a certain rate of "attrition" when growing outdoors. I started with 10 plants and have already lost 4. Critters chewed the hell out of 2 and very heavy rain flooding killed 2 others. That's a 40% attrition rate and it's still only middle of July!!!!!!!!! :wall:

But that's outdoor growing and I never expected to take all 10 plants to the finish line. It rarely works out that way for me. Start with much more than you need and then hope you can put maybe 50% in jars...

thank you for the shared loss story, it's just how it is out there
my outdoor grow was something of a whim, knew my odds were long
but it always is a ball buster when you go to look at your outdoor lovely's and see mayhem instead
