Jon Stewart sums up Fast and Furious

It wasn't public outrage until FoxNews kept displaying it as one and eventually enough right wing extremest picked it up... seriously, first it was a conspiracy to limit the second amendment, now it's a conspiracy against the drug wars... whatever sticks man, whatever sticks.

But here's the deal, no matter who's in the office, things like this will continue to go on and we'll only know about it if either a) info gets leaked or b) something seriously gets fucked up. I guess since we normally don't hear about it, that when we do some people just have to make it a big enough deal.

If you don't like it, Canada is north of us, their government tends to take care of it's citizens more than worrying about opposite parties and foreign wars.

A federal law enforcement officer gets murdered by our own government's failed policy and it's not a big deal?

Sorry bro, I just don't agree with you on that one.

His entire approach is like "I want justice for this one agent", but he goes around defending the warmonger party like an ass hat.

Hey Beennowhere, why don't you give a fuck about 4409 Americans that died in an illegal war in Iraq?

I do care about Americans that die in war, but the Iraq war was not illegal, try again Skippy.
This thread is about the botched Fast & Furious policy, stay focused and quit trying to distract.

Obama handed out those weapons did he? And beyond that, there was a program identical in every way except magnitude in place before Obama took office, Bush's program, Operation Wide Receiver. Now this doesn't exempt Obama but it goes to your original point.
This is false. Operation Wide Receiver distributed 250 guns, not thousands. Every gun had a tracking device, not just a couple dozen. Mexican government knew of the operation and co-operated. Mexican government was tracking those 250 weapons. Fast and Furious was done in secret without permission from or knowledge of the Mexican government, those weapons were NOT tracked at all. Operation Wide Receiver was an attempt to curtail the gun trafficking from the USA to Mexico. Fast and Furious seems to be just an attempt to increase the number of assault weapons in Mexico to cause a higher death count to justify more stringent gun control laws. In other words, a political motive. This is the reason Obama has made the claim of Executive Privilege.

International law! LMAO

The next time your welfare check is late, call UN then.

lol you should look into where international law is being used; your example fails horribly because that's a domestic issue, not an international...and it's not regarding invading other countries.

A federal law enforcement officer gets murdered by our own government's failed policy and it's not a big deal?

He wasn't the first, and won't be the last; so why are you choosing to make HIM the big deal NOW?

maybe we just wanted some change.

My understanding is that OWR did allow weapons to "walk". beyond that, as I pointed out, the only difference was in magnitude - just as you stated.
Some of the weapons may have slipped between the cracks, tho you offer no evidence all all except your "understanding". Fast and Furious weapons were not tracked at all once they left the USA, and then only enough to verify they entered Mexico.Tthe Mexican government was a partner in OWR, deceived in FAF. These are major differences that you ignore because of political bias.

What if Obama is trying to avert crisis with Mexico by not releasing documents that may really piss Mexico off? Like maybe piss them off enough to altar their trade habits along with the rest of Latin America, that would suck.

fuck eric holder btw

More hyperbole being used to "support" that first bit of it. No one said anyone was innocent, nor did anyone say governments don't cover up but your shifting to such a comment proves neither the statement nor its opposite. Because governments cover up does not mean that this time they have. Again, we know nothing of what is in those documents. How upset were you when Cheney refused to hand over specifics of his energy policy meetings?
"Because governments cover up does not mean that this time they have." Yet, they are obviously trying to cover up. To pretend this is not so destroys any credibility you had.

I'm agreeing with you. We have no reason to question them since we don't have any documents of proof.
No reason? How about at least one dead Border Agent, thousands of dead Mexicans? Under your standards, we would have no crime investigation at all.

My understanding of the two operations is that gps were installed in both, that guns were allowed across the border (I have seen more than one right leaning person claim that purchasers were arrested on the spot - where are you folks getting your information?) and my understanding is that arrests were made under F&F and were not under OWR. I know you want to make more of this than it is, I know it is important to you to have the Obama administration at fault all the time for everything and that no proper comparisons can possibly be made to any other situation - this being the case, it may be you who is wearing those glasses. I do not excuse ineptitude, I do not excuse cover ups but unless and until Holder is actually found in contempt, this is no cover up.
Everything you said is illogical or outright lies. Where are you getting your information? NBC? The "news?" broadcaster who never mentioned the subject at all until AFTER Holder was found in contempt?

Fast and Furious seems to be just an attempt to increase the number of assault weapons in Mexico to cause a higher death count to justify more stringent gun control laws.

Refusing to comply with Congress. He has yet to provide those documents. What problems did you have with Cheney's similar actions?
Cheney was pilloried by the left, but Holder gets a pass? Cheney's actions didn't cause the death of anyone.
