Progressive groups, unions hit Johnson over 'peaceful' Jan. 6 claim
A group of more than 20 prominent progressive groups and unions are criticizing Wisconsin Sen. Ron Johnson (R) in a new ad campaign for his response to the Jan. 6 insurrection and his vote against federal voting rights legislation, NBC News reported Monday.

The $800,000 ad campaign, which started on Sunday, highlights Johnson's remarks on Fox News on the violent Jan. 6 riot, which he said was "peaceful" except for "a number of people, basically agitators that whipped the crowd and breached the Capitol."

"You're failing us, Sen. Johnson," the ad campaign, named Country Over Party, states. "Protecting our democracy has never been partisan, and yet you refused to investigate the deadly attack on our Capital."

The ads also criticize Johnson's vote against the For the People Act, which the Senate GOP blocked in June.

"Access to the polls matters to all Americans, and yet you blocked voter protections that have the support of Democrats, Republicans, and Independents," the ads continue.

"Democrats want to consolidate control over government and our lives," Johnson said in a statement emailed to NBC news. "For the People Act has nothing to do with voting rights. The Jan 6 commission proposed by Democrats would not have investigated the failure of congressional leadership to provide adequate security for the Capitol. Democrats are not healing or unifying our nation. They are pushing false narratives to further their own radical agenda."

The ad urges voters to call his D.C. office. "It's time Sen. Johnson puts country over party," the ad said.

Hodgkins was never accused of assaulting anyone or damaging property. And prosecutors said he deserves some leniency for taking responsibility almost immediately and pleading guilty to the obstruction charge.

But they also noted how he boarded a bus in his hometown of Tampa bound for a Jan. 6 Trump rally carrying rope, protective goggles and latex gloves in a backpack — saying that demonstrated he came to Washington prepared for violence.

"Hodgkins’ lawyer, Patrick N. Leduc, described his client as an otherwise law-abiding American who, despite living in a poorer part of Tampa, regularly volunteered at a food bank. He noted that Hodgkins is an Eagle Scout. "

The military, police, and Secret Service need "almost a cleaning." Thankfully, Milley and others are steadfast in honoring their oath to the constitution. Not giving him any accolades, though.
Pence wouldn't get in the car with the Secret Service on 1/6..even stupid Pence didn't trust that fvcker..that he thought he'd not be seen again if he got in?

McCarthy Names 5 Republicans to Jan. 6 Committee
House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy on Monday named five Republicans to the select committee set to investigate the events of Jan. 6 at the U.S. Capitol, CNN reports.

Rep. Jim Jordan of Ohio is most the well known of the five, though Rep. Jim Banks of Indiana was picked as ranking member. The other three GOP members are Reps. Rodney Davis of Illinois, Kelly Armstrong of North Dakota and Troy Nehls of Texas.

Pelosi has veto power over McCarthy's picks.
