Jack the Ripper, Ketama, Afghan Kush Supersoil Grow in Autopots

I prefer eating it over smoking it... much stronger, longer lasting stone. Actually off to go pick some up from my local club since I'm a bit under the weather, and I already whacked all my homemade cookies.

I still need to try your tincture recipe, Med. Once I get my house in order you can bet I'll be signing on to tincture testing, too. :peace:

Hope ya don't mind if I stop in.

I just planted a 5 pack of jtr and only one survived. I recently put a small clone of it in flower, and luckily it's a female. (hope its dank)
Your plants are looking nice.

Most definitely. I like to wait for a least a 2 week cure, plus some time to smoke them for a while before doing a report so please be patient. I'm also big on tinctures and medibles. I think I'll start doing reports on effects of smoke vs ingestion. There can be quite a difference.
Sounds good man. Im so looking forward to this!

Fuck yeah, just got my jtr, pandora's box and vortex! First tga gear and I am stoked. Gonna run these in supersoil and see how it goes. I am veging in 2 gal smart pots for 4-6 weeks then into a 7 gal Smartpot (2gal pot transplanted directly) with about 60% super soil and 40% base soil on top (around the 2gal smartpot transplant) and maybe a couple inches of base between the 2 gallon and the supersoil. Does that seem like a decent plan? This will be my first non-hydro run so I am a little ignorant here. This shit is looking tight!

The AK is known to be a devastating couch lock strain so I'm letting her go till I see 75% cloudy-25% amber.
That's why I'm growing mine. Looking for some herbal ambien. I like your 75/25 target. Let me know how it works for you and I may do the same.

I completely agree Bobo. Medibles are the way to go. I'm really happy with that tincture recipe. 3 - 6 drops depending on the strain and you are in happy land for a good 4 hours.

Hey johny, that sounds like a good plan for the supersoil run. I've never planted a smartpot straight into soil but have heard it works. As for the SS volume, you could definitely go 66% with the JTR and Pandy. Those girls love their food. I gave the Pandy in my last indoor grow a little under 66% in a 4 gallon pot and she ran out of gas a bit too soon. I even supplemented toward the end with EJ nutrients. I'm looking at how the JTR is doing now and thinking she'll need some more before long. I've never run Vortex so I don't know what she likes. Maybe bshdctr will chime in here. I'm pretty sure he's run Vortex.

Good luck with your new gear.

johny1212-
As Medshed mentioned I ran the good 'ol Vortex for a while so I thought I would lend over what info I gained from my experiences with her. I never grew Vortex in Supersoil, at the time I was using Happy Frog/Light warrior/ Roots Organics blends of soil and the Botanicare PureBlendPro nutes. Even though it was a different method, I would say she is a medium to heavy feeder. If I was going to layer a pot using SS I would probably use about 55-60% from what I saw. The Apollo-13 dominant females will consume more nitrogen and will benefit most likely from a top dressing around week 3 to prevent going yellow too early. Subcool wrote about the mother Apollo being a heavy nitrogen hog, and I experienced it in my Apollo dominant girl as well. Hope maybe this helps. Vortex all around was a hardy, easy to grow plant and I miss her already. Have fun it is SUPER-DANK!!

Thanks bshdctr! I really appreciate the input. For the top dressing would you recommend the supersoil or something more like blood meal or mexican bat guano? About how much?

Well, if using Supersoil as your method then I would just throw a couple inches of SS at the base of your plants that show N needs. Since I was using liquid nutes I would just give her 1/2 veg 1/2 flower nutes once around week 3 and then top dress at week 4 with high P bat guano (around 1 T worked into top inch of soil) to encourage a bloom boost. This would prevent the early yellowing for me. Again, hope maybe that helps!

Oh, and Medshed- sorry to go off track here on your thread. My apologies.
Johny feel free to PM me with any more Vortex questions if you would like and I'll try and help if I can!

take care folks-

No worries guys. This is a good conversation. I've got Vortex in my seed backlog so I'll be using this info some time down the road.

And for what its worth, I have Vortex in my backlog and am benefitting from the information that has been discussed here.

Hi All - this will be a quick update. It is too cold in the shed to pull the girls out of their cozy flower room for a proper photo shoot. I snapped a few shots of the flowers to show you how they're coming along.

First a smell report
JTR is just stinking up the place with lemon fuel. AK is developing a berry/coffee sort of smell. I can't quite place the Ketama smell. It is something like that grind your own peanut butter you get at health food stores.

Now for the flower shots.

Last but not least, the guard bird.
We discovered a visitor the other day eating its breakfast in one of the trees in our back yard. I guess you could say that security is tight at the Medshed...

Just finished my Vortex, Jillybean and PB over the summer and im looking forward to growing JTR, sub'd.
After my current grow, it's either
Qrazytrain(clones), Timewreck and Jtr
or
Qrazytrain(clones), Vortex(clones), Bubbamantis and Mantis (trichome jungle).

out of everything i've sampled from tga, Vortex or pandora's box impressed me the most in flavor and buds, like sponges they are the sickest. vortex grew the best, indica stature and amazing tea-mango-lemon smells from it, still my favorite plant. i like plants with little stretch and high yields who can take a heavy feeding, vortex was all of that and some dank on the side.

Thanks for the comments folks.

Indicaman - I'd like to hear your perspective on PB vs Jillybean high profile. I've only smoked a gram of Jillybean but I seem to recall it being similar to PB except more mellow (less speedy). I felt a bit of paranoia from it though, which I don't like. I'm wondering if that was a pheno issue or something. I'm thinking about growing some out to find out for myself. Since you've grown them both maybe you can give a comparison.

I really like the PB. That and Querkle are definitely going in my outdoor garden next summer.
