Hey all,

Bud rot or not? I would rather lose the cola than the whole tent.

week 7 of flowering, growing in coco ebb and flow. Humidity has been high from 50-60% but with constant air flow. I'm talking about the bud on the very left, you can see healthy ones on the right. Brown hairs are just now appearing on some buds but not all, and nothing like that one.

Yep, it is. Thank you. Looks like I'm getting a dehumidifier tomorrow. Any other way, besides humidity and airflow, for me to ensure this won't happen to the rest of my buds? (i know the spores got on another cola or two when i pulled this out)

Low humidity. Water less the watering of the soil creates humidity. More frequent waterings.

be very vigilante about keeping your hands clean while checking over your plants.and check them twice daily.I grow outdoors and it happens every season when the buds are really stacking and getting dense.wipe your scissors with alcohol between cuts if you have to make more.it's a pain, definitely . good luck

Yeah, my condolences dude, had that problem right at the end when I was flushing my last run of Immense Bulk, those dense nugs are a bitch if you can't control the humidity. Try to get your rH down to the low 40's at least, lots of air circulation, and if outside air is dryer, then it helps to pull that air in and exhaust the more humid grow room air (can help flush the spores from the air too instead of just circulating them).

Also when cutting out the contaminated stuff, don't leave any of that dead brown looking shite, get every bit out. Yeah I know it hurts, but think of the plant like your body and the mold is cancer, cuz if that were the case, you wouldn't be shy, right, lol. One more thing for future reference, I've read that UVB light can kill mold and mold spores. I don't know if it's true, but I'm hoping to add UVB to the new COB lights I'm building, so if anyone else has the 411 on that, I'm sure others would like to know. Good luck with that battle, it can be a real mofo to beat if you don't get the conditions corrected asap ;?)

I've noticed a portion of the stem will start to get pale and discolored as an early sign
yup, I agree.Ive also noticed I will find a very oddly colored (usually bright colored, bleached white,or even a bright purple) sugar leaf coming out of the bud that I suspect is infected.I've watched that area around those leafs and yes,the bud eventually developed mold. for me,these odd colored sugar leaves are the first signs I look for.I'm also outdoors,I have no indoor experience fyi.just my opinion

Update:

Went out and bought a 30 pint dehumidifier (180 bucks) - there goes all my fun money! but its worth it. Keeping it as dry as possible, it's down to about 41-45% rH at the moment and i have to empty it every few hours.

Before i got it tho another bud came down with rot. I caught it very fast as I am checking on every bud and pulling on the little leaves compulsively(3 times a day). It was my biggest top on that plant, but i cut the whole thing off, letting it dry, at least I'll have something to smoke soon. Like you said man, I'm treating it like cancer. Thanks for the suggestions and warm wishes, er body.

Going to start flushing today, seeing a lot of brown hairs and think that its time. I'll let you guys know how it goes in the end.

Definitely run a drain if you can, emptying them blows. If it doesn't come with one, it's pretty fricken simple to DIY.
