is there any scientific evidence to prove drying in the sun is bad?

is there , every one says 'it destroys thc' but i dont see how 1 day could ruin a plant. I've never seen any hard evidence? If it does affect thc , it must be different if the bud is already dry , or fresh cut ?

Aloha & Good Morning~

There is plenty of evidence on that subject, I found like 20 right off by filling in the "search" box w/ "heat degrades THC", and any variation of that will work too. I am kinda new to growing (second harvest next week) and stuff but I do know that I don't all of a sudden try something no one else does; no one I've come across on RIP dries their herb in the sun. I have read on many occasions to NOT expose dried or semi-dried bud to excessive heat and keep in dark (after harvest) so that the chemical processes to remove chlorophyl, moisture, etc., can take place.

Hate for you to do so much work and then end up with herb with less potency. GL tho brah. And look around here at some of the EXCELLENT stuff RIP ppl are doing. Until WE get it together, and a few grows under our respective belts, I'mma do EXACTLY what the pros here are doing.

i don't doubt that sunlight can degrade thc, but is it significant? especially when you consider what's being dried
when you're drying a wet plant, it's not a dead plant, at least not completely
and weed was dried this way years ago, and some of that weed was good by any measure, even today's

The dark kills the plant, you want the plant dead, if it is in the light, it will try to keep growing, it's like when you take a clone off your plant, if you put it in the light it will grow, you put it in the dark it will die. if you cut a bud off your plant and put it in the sun, it will try to revive it's self. I know people that dry in the sun/light, and i know people that do it in a cool dark place. and I can tell the diffents. the sun dryed has more of a leafy taste

I use the standard dry and cure methods, but if heat degrades thc then why do we decarb weed by heating before making edibles? Heat converts thca to thc. I personally don't think that sunlight would degrade the thc unless there were other factors involved. That being said, I would still hesitate to do it because of my inability to control the outdoor environment.

Fair enough, honestly I dont really know. I'm sure this could be very easily tested though, I'll try drying a small bud on my window (if we actually have any sun lol).

Common sense, let it prevail.

After harvesting it's all about preserving what is there. Dry in the sun if you want, but odds are you'll get less potent weed than a cool dark place. Rough handling too will degrade your bud potential. Cool and dark let's moisture escape, whereas light and heat goes against preservation of everything. There is a reason we keep fresh food in a fridge. You could go against the tried and tested methods of drying and curing if you want, but I'll stock with good practice made from common sense and proven methods ta.
