Hi,

Once my seeds sprout, i want to drop them into my soil mix. However is ocean forest too strong so early in their life? should i cut the OF with a standard soil.

whats your thoughts? should i wait a few week until i put them in 1 gal pots to add the OF?

Thanks for the advice.

I'm an anomoly,or is that a analomy lol.I've always used ocean forest with clones and seedlings sometimes even using a skosh of 1-0-0 worm castings.I just have never experienced this phenominon of ocean forest being too "hot" for seedlings or clones.Must happen to a lot of folks though because I've heard it often enough.I always throw in some perlite and mycorrhzae that stuff rocks

I'm not sure what you mean by 2 1/2 gallons but seedlings should always be started in 4 inch nursery pots or something that doesnt hold a large volume of soil.If you plant directly into a container too large for a seedling the roots will grow along the sides of the container leaving a "big empty" in the middle of the container,a poor utilization of finite medium. You want the roots to basically fill each container before transplanting up.I start in 4 inch pot then veg to sexual maturity in a 2 gal nursery pot(1.6)gallons soil, take cuts transplant to 3 gallon and flower. This has done me right for many a year

For my first grow I used miracle grow with great results.
I have been using Ocean Forest ever since. I sprout seedlings IN ocean forest soil and none of my seedlings have ever burned.. i don't know what some of these people are talking about man. Ocean Forest is also packed full of bat guano and plenty of other great stuff for your vegging plants, there is no need to feed them for at least a month in Ocean Forest. just my firsthand experience man. good luck.

ive only worked with seeds (never ever ever done a clone) and i pop them straight into the soil (no paper towel method before hand) from the breeder packs and add water...simply as that. never had ocean forest damage a seed/seedling.

ever. and i havent just grown from one strain or seed company...i think you'll be okay unless its a strain sensitive to nutes to begin with.

I'm on my first grow and I'm using Ocean Forest. I put my seeds straight into the soil and they sprouted in a couple days. It's been about 2 weeks and so far so good...

in my experience sprouting seeds directly in soil is faster any how, the other way takes about 4 days, droppin your seeds in soil they usually come up in 2-3 for me.
good luck man

in reference to the guys that are just dropping their seeds straight into the soil... are you keeping the light directly over them or no light until they sprout?? whats your standard practice? Mist the soil with water or standard watering? do you cover the soil with plastic or a lid for humidity? I dont need that whole process justa quick run down. Ive always thought the paper towel trick for sprouting worked good but skipping a step and start right from soil sounds great, just need a few more tips.

Thanks

the same as using paper towels or any other method. And it's safer, no stress on the sprout by picking it up and tearing it away from the paper towel.

And no, OF is not too strong for seedlings, it's great. Be careful on the addition of perlite, OF has a LOT of perlite already in it.
