I'm finishing flowering an outdoor plant inside under 6 - 40watt CFLs, about 16'000 lumens and 240 watts. Do you thinks thats enough to finish this plant off, It stands about 4ft and its pretty bushy???
Thanks.

PS. pics are from about 2 weeks ago.

that sounds a little weak, you might be fine. im not too sure with cfl's, your plants will be in a huge shock because that dosent even come close to outside light.

yeah i hear ya, buts its now snowing and raining out and i have no choice. I think I might pick up 2- 70 watt HPS floodlights and also use the CFLs. Any other thoughts??

get some more cfls and u might be alright. the sun puts out 10,000 lumesn per sq foot. so think about your area and do the math.
also good start with gettin some hps's.

Two things to consider are these. CFLs produce less heat so they can be much closer to the plant top, than HPS can be. So they can produce a lot of lumens on the leaf surface. Second, reflected light can be as valuble as the primary source. So buy a mylar survival blanket at Walmart for $2 and attach it to the wall.

Measure you plant height. In 48 hours it will grow some if there is enough light. Otherwise add a couple more 42 watt cfls.

if you vent your HPS light it doesnt matter about heat. i can touch the glass right under my bulb and hold my hand on the glass and its barely even warm.

iam tell you right now str8 up..
hell no!!! u don't ahve enough light.. for optimum budding especially.. your leaves are gonna be used to all those lumens and healthy light n then brnghtem into cfl's,, your gonna need more then what you got...
your better of getting a HPS lamp and using that..

looks like a very nice set up,mines basic in a wardrobe. i CANT touch the glass around the bulb, but plants can get to 3inches from cool tube without, burning plants. have added a pic below, plants are a lot bigger than that now around 2-3 feet.

its a very nice set up, super ventilation if u can touch the glass, my glass is a bit too warm for that, 3" from light plants are ok anythin less & leaves start to burn

floodlights dont have the right spectrum for growing plants. either buy a shitload of cfls(id say 2-3 per cola) or splurge on a real hps

I rigged up a 2 seperate lamps with reflectors that holds 4-40 watt CFLs horizontally on each lamp, I goin to hang one above each cola. I'll get some pics up soon. I would buy a HPS lamp but it'll be a waste of money seeing as ill only be using it for 2 weeks. And i dont grow indoors so i wont have any use for it after this year.
