If that's why you're moving, you're more retarded than a liberal. Everywhere people change. They become more liberal or less, like fashion change. You have no control over how others vote. Only you control you. So no matter where you move, the people will eventually annoy you. Becoming a hermit is your only other choice.

There was always a big government. The only difference is now we have run out of "free" land to run to when being oppressed. For the first time in human history the map of the world is filled out and can no longer be expanded. So now we can no longer run to make our own safe haven eventually turning it into a big government of our own ( from the scale of people in a small wondering group to established kingdoms and eventually world powers), we have to figure out how to maneuver with a new set of limitations. It has only been a couple hundred years since we have run out of places to discover and push our power on. We have been around for 200,000 years, always expanding and moving. We no longer can do that the way we used to, whether as a government or as a singular person. We came up with collective security but still played the game as a unilateral independent nation. With the collective security came the loss of the ability to just bust your way into a "inferior" nation to take resources back to your home. We set up a world arena where we are supposed to be held accountable for our treatment and policies with other countries. At first we let the different countries do their thing and occasionally it would go bad but the normal spheres of influence would keep everything in check (Fuck Yea Teddy Roosevelt). Naturally though some event would push the boundaries to far. World War One set up the world for the League Of Nations but the legislature wouldnt sign on to join for the United States. When they finally gave in Woodrow Wilson said fuck you guys Im going to ride my train and die. It never went through and can be suggested as one of the reasons the league failed. Then World War Two as we all know happened. Europe after the war needed support to rebuild and eventually counter the presence of the Soviet Union. The United Nations was created to counter any problem for the majority caused by the minority. As we move into this new way that the world works we are forced to deal with the bad things we did before and even during the beginning of collective security. At least we got this far.



on the other hand California is just a free for all and we will leave it that way

big government made california powerful. state would be a god forsaken desert without the aqueduct system.
