The difference in the US vs. middle east (with the exception of Israel, bested again) is that these corruptions can be dealt with in a fair and timely manner whereas the arab states sovereign rule continues with its corruption unabated because there is no system of checks and balances for the weak to keep the strong from manipulating them.

In the North of Tehran there are huge shoppping centres with all that you or I can by in our countries. Repression is not something that fills Iranian lives all the time. It is by no means westernised but it is far from the country you portray.
