Iolite

Anyone try these yet?

I've had a bong / precooler / carbon filter etc forever and have never used a vaporizer.

Debating if a vape is healthier than my bong and worth the price.

I don't want to spend $500 on a monster, and would prefer to find a more economical, portable version that does the same thing.

These iolites look interesting. Reviews on amazon say the mouthpieces suck, but i'm sure they'll fix it. Someone also mentioned they are made by a company who does combustion for all kinds of businesses, so they are very good at it.

I'm wondering about using butane as well. Whether that's healthy, and if it affects the taste..

when i was, i found those basic hot box hose vaporizers to be quite efficient. yea theirs no visual measurement for the temp but i found that half the fun in learning how 'vaporizing' works. it took me a solid week to figure out where on the dial was what temp. all i did their was mark notches on the box. i went through hoses every few months but nothing ebay cant fix. my neighbor has a volcano and i love the funtionality of it but the price is too much for the common user. its great for large doses. my new curiousity is percolators. i just love the simple engineering of it.

id like to hear opinions on these as well. we are thinking of stocking them at my shop and wanted to hear opinions if they are worth backing them.

from the reviews ive seen, it seems like they were but the only downpoint is you can only pack enough for a few hits. i donno if thats good or bad because thats where i see the price as an issue. if i had the chance to snag one for under $100 i would just for the convenience factor.

100 is less than cost on them. i think its kinda they way they meant to be being not huge hits as its meant to be a portable device not a home model.

Vapor Genie over the iOlite ALL THE WAY! Vapor genie is tough, you can't spill it, and you don't need butane. All you need is a good bic. They retail about $80, made in the USA all around 100% - iOlite is decent but you need to refill butane, and I'm not big on the butane -- its made in Ireland and has a warranty, though. Good construction. Not all bad. But for portability, construction and price its Vapor Genie hands down.

i just recently bought the Iolite, to small for me.

you cant spill iolite either, its in a sealed bowl deal so it dont go anywhere. and using a lighter isnt vaping, lighters are to hit and dont do the same conversion of THC. thats thew whole point of a vap is not to use3 the hot flame of a ligthter
i just googled the genie andf its just a pipe to me. they seem to keep pointing to the fact of toxic stuff at 500 degree. well at that temp we already lost the thc. the point to a vap is low heat and a lighter isnt low heat. it says they only are accurate to within about 100 degree...way not accurate. for a true conversion we need to be more accurate than that

the Iolite keeps the product at a constant 170 degree on its own. and refilling butane once n a while dosnt seem to be to big an issue to me realy. need to refill the bowl more times than anything, thats my down fall i see on the little iolites.

I hear they break after a while..

From people on here, and a friend who had one for a year.

Go for gold man, dont squander small amounts of money a LOT of little broken things instead of biting the bullet ONCE and being happy for life.
