Oh, i know, lol.. Next thing im going to do is upgrade to c2100B drivers. I want that 2000 PAR,




lol, just kidden on the 2000 par, i actually hit 3000 from 6 inches,lol.. my rig is kickin ass man, love it, just about perfect, but definitly going to upgrade the drivers. just because.

that is a good example of where low voltage drivers are an advantage, you have more flexibility to run cobs at different currents later on

in that case, just run a sale on some stock you want to move. I was about to place a small order and then realized it was sales season - didn't know if you were going to do a small coupon based discount like you used to. No worries either way :bigjoint:

@CobKits - do you know of anyone running high CRI 2700K or 3000K + the all blue citi? I have a buddy who is about to come out with a new line of lights. He insists that plants first exhibit avoidance due to higher levels in the 500-600nm range (as opposed to flat out PPFD). I'll get a chance to test his lights in a few months, but I was thinking of pairing a 2700K 90 CRI + the all blue citi and see how it performs.

thats a deep discussion of spectrum vs plant life cycle, but in theory blue cobs are just phosphor-less and would shift the same 80 or 90 cri spectrum up the color temp. so if it was evenly mixed a 2700k+blue would prob end up like 5000-6000K

Interesting - i didn't think the difference in color temp was just the amount of blue (or lack thereof)... Guess I need to do some reading.... what about running 6500K or 5700K plus red monos (630, 660, 730)... again, the goal being to have full spectrum, but less of the 500-600nm spectrum than we generally get with white cobs.

yours and the cree cobs are working as good or better than panels..

and its not so much the spectrum or cri..i

ts that you actually get any decent cobset up and use it instead

of being so picky about what is imho a tiny factor..

i have grown/flowered 3000-5000..not much difference..

oh but the 2700..sure get it ..but just get something and grow with it..

for a given cri series its entirely the amount of lack of blue absorbed by phosphor. thicker phosphor= lower color temp, less blue passing thru
gotcha, so this implies a shift in spectrum outside of a shift in color temperature would require a different kind of phosphor.

correct 80 and 90 cri use different phosphor, you can see by the shift of the read peak

for either of those CRIs the peak is centered about in the same place, and peak height is a function of color temp, i.e. phosphor thickness

I’m looking on Mauser and they are expecting a delivery of cxm-22 hortilum COBs in early December. The unit price is pretty steep unless you buy in bulk. Will you be carrying these soon?

if there is demand. they are considerably more expensive and for 99 out of 100 people (the 100th having more money than brains) i would recommend running a higher number of the cheaper white cobs at lower currents to get higher efficiency

"in theory" the spectrum-tailored horti chips *might* deliver more usable PPF but until i see a real controlled study, i am recommending the proven white spectrum that we already have years of data on.

I actually grow vegetables indoors in the winter since I moved away from california. My 1212’s running at 12w get crushed by my cheap Chinese blurples growing kale and lettuce etc. Sad because I was pulling some epic MJ harvests right before I left. I’ve heard cannabis is special in its ability to use the whole spectrum.
