A police helicopter can not see through roofing material's like slate or tiles. But if the growroom has a hole in the wall to disscharge hot air then this will be picked up has flur hot air escapeing. The best thing to do is have the exaust fan take hot air out of the grow area and blow it into the house. It is best if you live alone or your partner knows what you are doing so this way you can get som plaster board up to the windows.Get some white blinds and paint the side of the board that faces out side white.By doing this if there is any light leeks the police or anyone won't pick them up.Police look for the spec of light that h.p.s/H.i.d light disscharge so keep the grow area light tight.

75 degrees indoors in the winter isn't out of the ordinary. Most people heat their homes in the winter, so naturally the inside temperature is going to be warmer than the temperature outside.

"Room temperature" is somewhere between 69 degrees and 72 degrees F.

3 degrees difference between rooms isn't uncommon. A room with a fireplace in it is going to be warmer than the rooms around it. The kitchen gets warmer when you turn the oven on, the laundry room gets warmer when the dryer is running.

There is no way to differentiate between heat caused by an oven or fireplace, and heat caused by lights.

More on what they see, and from a great distance.

Same house from the sky they must be 1 mile away if not more.

(I dont have any knoledge of these FLIR pigs and there tech but..)

This looks to me like the filth can see straight through this house, images like this are very worrying and all the windows show up also that suggests they do not mask the heat signiture as the marking of the windows is almost exactly the same as the heat sig in the house. In the top pic is thye sig near the top of the roof just one light they hav homed in on? Also the house above the "35" marker on the camera is also lit up like no ones business, almost the same as the house in the target box, so y that one?

Can anyone clarify this once and for all because these pics look pretty clear cut to me and I dont want any pig to set foot in my house..

+Rep for reply

Peace.

If that pic is not shopped.....it's pretty damning evidence. Not only that, but those cops are flying pretty far away from that house, which means if you can hear them...they can see you.

this really is an important thread...

those images are shit scary - has anyone insulated their grow room and what materials did you use?...

I for one would rather take the time to do it, and it would help me sleep better at night too.

EXCLUSIVE by Luke Traynor, Liverpool Echo

A MUM-TO-BE today told how police smashed their way into her Merseyside home expecting to find a cannabis farm.

Cops swooped at the house in Green Gates, Huyton, on Tuesday while seven-months-pregnant Nicola King and her boyfriend were asleep in bed.

It appears sophisticated computer equipment aboard the force helicopter detected an unusual heat source coming from the roof of the house.

But a quick search of the property revealed it was coming from an uninsulated boiler located in the loft.

Today Merseyside Police apologised to the couple for any distress caused by the early morning drama.

But they say the smashed down door could cost as much as 400 to repair.

Nicola, 24, said the 10-strong squad burst into the house at 7.30am as she and her delivery man partner James Dowding, 22, dozed upstairs.

She told the ECHO: We heard a banging sound which seemed like someone was kicking a football against the wall.

Then there was a big smash and there were loads of police dressed in riot gear with guns running about the house.

My partner went downstairs and they pushed him face down onto the couch.

They went straight to the loft but soon realised there was nothing there and they had made a mistake.

They just tried to make a joke about it and when we asked about the damage they said you may get money back, but we cant guarantee it.

They could have handled this much better. They made a mistake and yet we have to pick up the pieces and pay for the damage.

Nicola said she has already forked out 200 for a new door.

But further joinery work is likely to push the overall cost of damage towards 400.

A Merseyside Police spokesman said: We would like to apologise for any distress the occupants experienced.

The address was visited as part of a series of planned raids on that day.

We do carry out rigorous checks prior to execution of warrants but, regrettably on this occasion, the information available to us was misleading.

Drug raids obviously involve an element of covert and tactical policing for them to be productive. We would like to reassure the community that a further warrant carried out that day, with similar information, led to the finding of a cannabis farm and the arrest of two people for the cultivation of cannabis.

These raids were part of Merseyside Polices war on drugs specifically around the production of cannabis.

The spokesman said the couple could apply to the force to claim compensation for the damage caused to their door.

Yet another mistake by the UK police force,

Poor insulation led to drugs raid on police officer's home

Posted by Mark Frauenfelder, August 1, 2008 1:42 PM | permalink

A UK drug squad raided Archibald Buttle's Zally Huseyin's house after a police helicopter taking infra-red videos of the neighborhood revealed the house to be "glowing white hot."
The police wrongly suspected that Huseyin (a police community support officer and mother of five) was growing marijuana in her house. It turns out the house had poor insulation and was leaking heat.
But when embarrassed officers searched Mrs Huseyin's house they found the glowing effect was caused simply by large amounts of heat escaping through the roof. Mrs Huseyin, who has been a PCSO since March 2007, said: "I was absolutely gobsmacked when I realised the police had come to search my house. When I saw the squad car I thought it was colleagues just popping in for a cup of tea.
"I saw the police car pull up and I knew the sergeant. She recognised me when I answered the door. She was shocked and said three times, 'This is your house?'
"They showed me the footage from the helicopter and I couldn't believe it. They said if I hadn't been in they would have broken the door down to get in."
The Cambridgeshire Police helicopter had been flying over on an unrelated job when its infra-red camera picked up Mrs Huseyin's glowing home.

plain and simple growing weed is illegal so if your scared your going to get caught then dont do it, more then likely they can see through your house and know what your doing and they just pick the super obivious houses like the ones light up like a christmas tree, i do it cause i dont give a shit cause more then likely your only facing six months for growing, and ive done way more time then that

GrowTech

stays relevant.
They sell stuff to block the heat from showing up on FLIR. If you are growing downstairs you should be fine too... Just block IR the exposed windows/walls.
