I'm not using all 8 outlets on my air pump, ok to just have others open?

Seems like a dumb question but wasn't sure, I just replaced a couple cheap aquarium pumps with a single active aqua 8 outlet but see no way to disable the ones not in use so they are all open spitting air into the room... Is this any kind of problem?

i currently only have 4 buckets running, seems to work fine just wasn't sure if they were supposed to be disabled somehow.

it came with zero documentation, not even a single piece of paper. I'm assuming its fine but if they can be shutoff somehow...

Mine came with an 8 outlet manifold, each outlet with an adjustable valve. When using 4 outlets I had to crack the others open. When completely closed, it put so much pressure on the tube between pump and manifold that the tube kept popping off

Awesome, thanks for the responses... Sounds like everything is just how it should be then. I was amazed how big the pump was... Somehow I still expected small for some reason. It's quite nice.

depends on how much air pressure going to the other ports, dont want to blow off your air stones.. lol what kind of pump is it..

Well air travels in the path of least resistance. I would say all the air would flood the empty nozzles. Or a good deal of it. The other path is this narrow long tube and then this stone in which it has to diffuse out.

Shit if I put one of my micropore stones on my pump with shitty dollar stones the micropore gets like no air. Path of least resistance. I use a GH dual diaphragm, so it has isolation valves to close nozzles not in use.

Is this it?

i got a little single 60l air pump and i left in 60 litre's of ro water for about 2 hours and my ppm went from 20 to 10 .. will be nice to be able to start out at 0 ppm from now on and then to add what i need

those GH dual diaphram air pumps kick some serious ass! i know from experience..as i run those aswell..

Yeah that's the one, although it's got different stickers on the front but still identical.

I could always double up the ports to each bucket since I am only running 4 atm... I use 4" micropore air discs with this and seems to work fine, Maybe if I run two short pieces to a T, then to the hose I am using now I won't be wasting any air. I could always use more bubbles, honestly I don't think I could ever have too many and right now it's 'mild' but definitely adequate.

Maybe you could insert a nail or thumb tack in the unused port and tape it up with electrical tape.

Or combine them into one line with a T connector like you're thinking.

Or run 2 lines to 2 stones per bucket.

The last two options might make your buckets really turbulent... but don't really know if that's a good or bad thing or if it matters.

Hello All, I would highly recommend using a piece of tubing to connect the two extra ports in a U shape together equalizing the pressure. This is a sure fire solution.
