Even in during Michigan winter months in a partially insulated basement???
What you can do during these good winter months is hook a 4 in vortex to the cooling controller and run a duct from outside into your room to cool that down for way less money though. Thats one of the big advantages of living in our state we get about 6 months of almost free cooling for our grow rooms :). You can pretty much run outside air from early nov to the middle of march or early april. All you gotta do is filter it somehow but its not that hard its not like theres bugs out or pollen in the air around those times. Just get a hepa style filter or if you wanna be ghetto use a furnace filter to go in the front. Have it hooked to a duct that circles around your celing with a "t" every few feet to have a nice even spread. Trust me I have seen people cool 15000w warehouses with outside air how sweet is that! 4 12"vortexes to 1 $120 day/night thermostat controller. The savings is huge! Cant beat bone dry 20* air. The air coming out of most a/c is about ~50*f.

take it one step further and heat something with the light exhaust, mines exhausts right into the garage , every little bit helps.

188 cfm is plenty. 4x4x6.5 is a really small area compared to say a 10x8 room - more than 6 times smaller. I run 1200w in my 4x4 and exhaust with a 400cfm fan dimmed to 1/4 speed.

How large is your basement? What is the ambient temp? I was running 1200w in a 4x4x6.5 tent in an 8x10' room; In the winter I LOVED it, my room was always nice and warm (~72) and my tent never went above 75 - but it was snowing outside. In the summer growing just wasn't practical, ambient temps of 90 meant room tempts off 100 and tent temps of 110.

All comes down to ambient temps of your basement and it's size. If it's a medium to large basement, say 20x30' then chances are your tent will never be any higher than 5 above ambient and chances are ambient basement temps won't increase anymore than a degree or two. Like someone suggested, set it all up and test it. We're going into winter so for the time being I really doubt you'll have heat issues. As seasons change though...

And like the poster above stated, use your exhaust to heat other rooms. If you're in a basement chances are you can plug the exhaust into the mouses main heating ducts pretty easily.

Thats wtf Im talkin bout great idea. I overheated my basement to the point to where it wasnt even comfortable naked and that was in the dead of winter Im talkin bout end of jan with 2 feet of snow on the ground dead of winter. That was with 2000w I had to vent them outside. Idk though you could definitely heat somewhere with it though. I actually thought of ducting my hoods into my furnace plenum for the winter time but i cant figure out how i would control it i couldnt just have my fans on the lights stopping and going all the time. I leave my fans on 24/7.

I run a single hose home depot lg special since i was a dumbass and didn't realize so much odor/co2 would be pumped out of the room with a single hose portable....that is unless I modify it a bit, some are easily modified but the extra cost of a dual hose portable or split system even better , money well spent.

I just saw a thread here somewhere that talked about an ac system they had installed with operating temp of 0 degrees and thought wtf would you wanna run a ac when the temp outside is 0? unless its some sort of lab/clean room.
