Illinois medical marijuana card wait time

I’ve heard it said that it’s in New Jersey, the Carolinas, and a few other places. This lady today told me it’s in Pennsylvania. I tend to believe her, but who knows. The IDPH isn’t real great at communication with us, dispensaries, or employees.

I know CCLs where the first thing I heard of being printed out of state. Now everything is.
A little off-topic, but: maybe the state would be in a little less financial trouble if there was a law that said they were required to use Illinois vendors for Illinois state business, instead of sending that money and those jobs out of state.

Looking back over some of the IDPH monthly updates I noticed something interesting.

Until May of this year, the updates indicated how many apps had been approved AND how many had been submitted.

Subtract approved from submitted, and you have the size of the backlog.

As of May, the backlog had slowly but steadily grown over time to around 5000 apps waiting for processing. In June, they stopped reporting the 'apps received' totals, and since then have only reported the 'apps approved' total.

But based on the earlier calculation of an average of 80 apps a day being processed, that would mean the state had an approximately 62.5 day backlog as of May if my math is correct (no guarantees!)

So if all of this calculating and extrapolating is accurate, that would tell us that based on a 90 day average wait time, for 27.5 of those 90 days, each app is just sitting on hold being ignored. Or something like that :)

Another way of looking at this is that it should have taken only 62.5 days for an app submitted in May to be processed. Anything over that is not processing time, it's artificially added delay time.

Can I use this in my testimony tomorrow?

It's public information, so I have no control over it. Go for it! :)

As for changing your dispensary before receiving your card, which I assume is what you want to do:

The one time I actually got through on the phone to the IDPH, I asked this exact question. The person I spoke with said he didn't know, but would check with his supervisor if I could wait. When he came back, he said yes, you can change your designated dispensary at any time before your card is received by sending a letter or e-mail to the IDPH office with your name and birthdate and the name and address of your new preferred dispensary.

Now...because of so much conflicting information coming out of that office, I can't say that this is still going to be accurate info today. But it seemed official last week :)

Sent to the printer on Monday. Any chance of it being here tomorrow?
It really pissed me off when you first posted that (not at you). Considering the days they're on now and they days they were on, what took so long to get 9/26 send to the printer? I sure hope they send the in batches with yours at the start of a batch, mine in the middle and into October at the end. Otherwise they had another long work stoppage.

I like to say keep hope alive but I would think day after Xmas? But I would bet by next Friday. Holiday should add a few days.
My day 90 is Thursday. Anibo's is Christmas. I think you're right about day after.
I don't think the holiday will cause that much delay if any. The world doesn't shut down for Christmas and so much is automated. The mail will stop when it gets to a destination not in mid-air so it all depends on when it gets to a stopping point, what the normal layover is there and what container it was put in before it got there. Seems to be low odds of being somewhere that completely sits for 24hrs.
I stalk tracking a lot.

There's an equal chance both of ours get rushed through trying to get Christmas mail delivered by Christmas. I've noticed that with Christmas mail, as long as you don't get lost in the rush.
