Illinois medical marijuana card wait time

Hello all,
Have been browsing through this thread the last month or so to get an idea of current wait times. Thank you everyone for posting updates to help people get an accurate idea of realistic wait times, not the 30 days as written in the law. My application, doctors authorization, and finger prints/backround check were submitted today. Will post updates as I go through this process. I've been hearing that the Illinois Department of Health is trying to outsoure work to other state agencies to try and reduce application wait times. Take that with a grain of salt though because this is the government of Illinois were talking about here. Good luck everyone and hope things go quicker for everyone so we can get the relief we need!

Application submitted 6/22/2016

Nice to hear and I may be close in terms of a timeline (hopefully). I had submitted all my paperwork (prints, application and physician form on 6/5 via USPS after meeting with my dr. I dropped it off at the post office just to ensure it got there properly at the box outside.I just wanted to shoot IDPH an email as I wanted to confirm this week they received everything and I got the generic email stating they did receive it. I’m just patiently waiting but I should hopefully be in the same timelines as I submitted a few weeks before you. I’ll post any status updates but I’m really hoping we and everyone get there cards soon. Appreciate the knowledge about the outsourcing as that may help but you never know with Illinois. Can’t wait....

Brushie - you and I had the same applicantion date. I called Monday as well and they hadn’t gotten to me. Called again today and over the last 4 days I was printed and approved and it was sent out in the mail this morning!! Any day now!!!
Lol! I called Monday out of ritual... I needed my weekly let down by the state you know. I haven’t seen anything in informed delivery, or mail yet but rest assure I’ll post here.

I just submitted my online application and all it gave me was a receipt for the $250 application fee. Was I supposed to get anything else? Also, I think it asked me and I chose the 3yr card, do I have to worry about that now or after a year of having my card?

Thanks! Good luck to all those waiting!

Hey all sorry if this is off topic. I just have a general inquiry in regards to the beginning stages of the process. I recently visited a medical marijuana doctor for a consultation (was looking to be diagnosed with PTSD) and he recommended that I come to three different appointments spaced a month apart from each other...does that sound accurate?

its a bad doctor.
goto your nearest dispensary and ask them if they will help you find a doctor
they may tell you a ptsd doctor, take their advice.
if not, they'll give you a list. then you can ask for a ptsd doctor.
If they fail to give you one, find another dispensary.
shouldn't take three trips to be diagnosed.
Good luck with the chase.

The doctor I saw was a 1 time and I was diagnosed with PTSD. I have heard of some doctors doing 2 times so they can have the patient/doctor relationship that is something they are supposed to have per the state. Keep looking...

So the funny thing is that I actually went to my local dispensary and grabbed a list of physicians the location I visited was on the list...I drove an hour and 45 minutes for the consultation...paid 50 dollars. They want 100 for each following visit.

Charlie- so you were approved? That's great. I imagine we will be getting our cards in the next 10 days or so (I also am April 11th).
I will let you guys know when mine shows up.

No rick I wasn’t told that I was approved, I was just told it was processing, whatever that means. I don’t know if they’ve looked at the application or not. I’m still as confused as before, perhaps more so. I was only told they were waiting on paperwork after processing to print up card. I’ll try again next Monday. In the mean time, hope to hear more successful stories this week along with application and approval dates.

My timeline...

3/30 - IDPH received application
6/1 - Check cashed
6/20 - Approved/sent to the printers
6/26 - Card in hand!!

89 days total.

Wasn’t able to make it to the dispensary before closing last night. First trip will be this afternoon!

At time the waiting seemed brutal, don’t let it get to you. Best of luck to all. This forum was an incredible distraction while “patiently” waiting.
