I'm looking to build a new led for veg and flower. Both areas have a 23"x20" footprint with flower having a little under 3 feet of headroom from the top of the pots to the roof and veg has about 15" of headroom. For the veg area I was going to run 6 vero 10's at 280ma (so that would give me about 6.5 watts per vero 10) for 39 watts over 3.19sq ft. I saw a post on the stealth/micro/cab growing forum where a guy ran 2 of the vero 10's with the same driver and said it would almost cover 4 sq ft, but I don't understand how. All my veg area will be is moms and clones, I might let clones go a little longer but I'll be running a sog so vegging won't be a big deal and maybe just two vero 10's would do the trick.

For flower I was going to copy someone elses build (Bueno Time on icmag) with 35 vero 10's ran by a HLG-185H-C1400A except instead of using all 4000k I was going to mix in some 3000k (about two thirds 3000k). That would mean at full power (1.4a) I'd be running about 200w total with 40% efficiency and enough heatsink to have passive cooling (assuming 1w dissipation for every 75cm2). But I could also turn it down, draw about 140w and get 44% efficiency. Even with it turned down I'm still almost at the 50w/sqft rule.

I feel like I actually understand everything in the forum but I might be missing something. I'm kind of using rules of thumbs that people were using for hps so I might be overkilling my lighting here. Even with the guy's build I'm copying he has almost double my space but I'm copying his light 100%. Would I be better off running 2-3 3070/vero29 or just cutting out some vero 10's and using a smaller driver? The only fear I have of that is with 2-3 cobs the light might be too intense and I'd have to have them high off the canopy and I don't have a ton of headroom, but then again I'll be running a perpetual sog so I could put the newest plants right below the cob so they won't get bleached.

Veg is easy enough to tweak and I could probably just stick with one string of 3 if I'm really over killing it, but if I'm overdoing it with flower then I'm not sure exactly what to do. It's tempting to just get the HLG-185H-C700, so I could run it at like 140w at max current but then be able to turn it down, but at that point the vero 10 spreadsheet doesn't have an info, so I'm not sure if it would be worth it, let alone work. But that would just reduce my lighting capabilities and it would cost the exact same.

I haven't been on here for a couple of years and it's the same old story with LED technology unfortunately, I would love to be proven wrong 1 day

I've been on here for a only about a year and technology is changing, New products. My first light is less than a year old and it is already old stuff. The story may be similar but I don't think it's the same old story.

My MeanWell LPC-60-1400 arrived last week and my Cree CXA3070 BB arrived today woot! Trying to decide on a heatsink now, does anyone think one of these could work?
At first I was going to say no..

But, you may even be able to use a cob holder with that. Use a big enough screw to grab between the fins like I've seen some do

I'd just get one initially to make sure it'll work for you

The rosewills look like they have one of the the best bases for a solid mount

Am UK based here, there are't any good suppliers of LED grow lights here.
I'm in the market to purchase a new LED grow light, which means I will have to either import
from china or the US.

I've been talking with Mars Hydro and was almost considering there current Sun Series light,
but give or take a month that current Sun Series model will be discontuined for a new slightly
curved body versions. Which I will consider once released.

I've also be seriously considering the XTE Series via Advanced LED lights, but for some reason I
feel the prices of each model seem over priced for what they are. Basically I would go for either
the DS XTE 200 or 300 models and with shipping back to the UK is comes to a shocking total price.

Can anyone recommend me other options regarding lights I can get shipped back into the UK.
Ideally am keen to get cree chips, but I know no that many lights using them yet.
I don't know if any of these ship to uk? Optic Lighting or Amare Tech or RapidLED

blast from the past.........how's life treating ya?
Hey Hey, Psu. Lifes been a bit of a bitch since the storm. But it's been getting better, just at a slower pace then I would like. I've only just recently started jumping back onto the forums. To say I'm confused by all the new tech would be an understatement. I just cant wrap my mind around the cobs yet. Seems so complicated and the money spent on materials looks like you'll reinvest with your time to assemble the unit. I'll pass on that. So I guess I'm just waiting on a new panel to buy and get back into the mix.

How you been? I posted something a few weeks back but didnt see any of the old regulars... And kinda just tucked my head again. lol.

I'm good........sounds like your back on your feet and ready to grow.

A51 new gear should cover your cob needs without getting your hands dirty.

Stay safe and dry

There are a ton of variables that go into answering that question. What type of set up are you planning on using? Size of grow area? Budget? Size of grow (how many plants at one time)? Have you done any research on what you think is a quality buy? All things you need to factor in when asking for help. I would be glad to help, just need to provide a bit more info. You've def started out right by searching and reading the forums though.
