Mars has the resources to produce a top quality product but they choose to make lights that they know are unreliable and inefficient. Hell, what does it cost to throw a few diodes and a "good luck" in the mail for warranty? They have access to any component at high volume discounts and still choose to make outdated inefficient lights.

The dumpster video is performance art at it's finest!

is that the light that you really want? Why not save more and keep using the 400....until you have enough money to get what you really want....unless that is the light you really want.....the reason I say this is because the light is not gonna cover the area you want and the technology is like buying a 720p tv and saying "well this will hold me over till I get that 4k"......but you already watch tv perfectly fine through your computer moniter.....which has a better resolution then that 720p....just save and get something that will crush that space instead of something that will just disappoint.......oh yeah and Mars has warranty to......they will guide you on where to get your panel fixed for a price

Anyone measured the temperature of the cxb3070 leds ? I was wondering is it possible to simply tape the led to heat sink with transparent tape ? Tape over the led part.. Is this possible or just simply idiotic ?

Another question.. Is anyone made any air ventilation calculations when using leds ? I know HPS lights needs more air ventilation because of the heat, but with leds heat is not as great issue. How much is good air ventilation when using leds ? Of course fresh co2 is needed but what is good air ventilation ratio ? If my grow room is 2m³. Is 2m³/minute of air flow enough ? Or can I go with 1m³/minute ?

Thank you

Depends on outside air temps & how many watts of lights ur trying to cool

I don't know the company, but the lights look nice. Good parts and not crazy overpriced. I'm a little worried about the driver being placed on top of the heatsink on a passive build... Maybe someone here knows this specific heatsink, or has tried these lights?

I rephrase my question.. If I normally use 1000W HPS and now I change to 500W led. How much less air ventilation is enough ? 50% of the original ?
whatever the room requires, might not be 50%. It will take some dialing in. Sure, ballpark at 50, but probably will need tweaking. :peace:

Thank you for your answer..

Any thoughts about the tape over the led question ? Anyone ?

Kapton tape?

Do not tape over the LES surface. If you have Vero or Cree, read the freaking Datasheet!!!!! please. Do not cover it, it will melt and possibly melt to the les, probably not a good idea. Even though Kapton is rated to 350F? or something?

Kapton will hold a cob to a heatsink surface, just don't touch the LES....I have diodes being used currently with 2+ year old 10mm wide Kapton strips. If you clean everything with ISO alcohol 1st, you should eliminate most mounting errors. :peace:
