I have my area 51 in a 24 x 24, I think it could easily go 24x30, maybe a bit larger if needed (28x32?) but I don't think I'd go 36 with it. Personally. But I will say, I would definitely take one of these over two Blackstars. Once again, me personally. But I have more money for lights than I have space to put them, regrettably... If things were things were the other way around, I may feel differently... I am now curious about the CLW lights, I specifically went with Lumigrow because they've been around for a while, and the 5 years warranty was very appealing. But I have to agree, it is really hard to find any documented grows with them. I gave it a whirl because the old 330 generally got pretty good review (except coverage) so we'll see. I can always pull the HPS out if need be, but hopefully those days are behind me.

I don't have an area51 sgs but given my experiences - I'd guess that 24 X 30 is the optimistic end of coverage for good flower. I would NOT expect more IF you want some dense bud. It would definitely veg a larger area.

I would also take an area 51 over Blackstars. Now if you want to learn maintenance, then BS is probably the way to go as you've got a fair chance of it needing work within a year.

Could you tell me what I need to be able to grow in a 10x10 room with 15-20 plants? Also what is the max plants you would recommend using in this area? I have three 10x10 rooms, so what would the best setup be for me to grow a lot of plants?

Thanks a lot for the input on my lighting question. The general point I'm seeing is A51 is the way to go. And 24*30 being the max most people think I will get for a dense outcome. Over all I think I'm going with the A51, I'd prefer to get what appears to be a much more efficient quality product for the long run. I'm hoping to upgrade at some point to 6 of them depending on how they perform but will be just testing the waters so to speak with 1. I'm very excited about testing these awesome lights out and I'm glad I made it in time for the pre order discount. Thanks again.

Roommate ok'd my mini/stealth room, so for a ~2ftx3ftx4ft space:
2x H350's
or 1x CLW SF200
or A51 SGS160
or 4-5 Astir's
or IG Pro200PAR
... too many choices for that space.

Edit: Measurements 23"x26"x50"

I've been fucking around with some LED designs.

spectrum - cree ledengine.jpg

66,801 lumens - 1284uMoles @ 50cm with 80 degree lenses.

spectrum - creeNWWWCW ledengine.jpg

74,902 lumens - 1360umoles @ 50cm with 80 degree lenses.

Both are based on a 192 LED design. 12 LED's per module, 16 modules. The latter is 3537umloes @ 12 inches, or 31cm. :D

I have about the same space,

SGS or the Astirs would be my first run..

or an SS400 for around the same for an SGS... but A51 is going to run a lot cooler, Im sure.

PSU - It's more or less a closet grow, I was planning to get a ball bearing 4" CPU fan (80-100CFM unrestricted) and use it as the scrubber and exhaust.

By the time you read this, I will have probably pulled the trigger on the SGS.

Heat isn't my main issue, I chose LED in my head already, but that's based on size. If I had 3ftx4ft I was going to combo induction and LED.

Edit: I joined the club, hopefully it's wise and not just trendy.

Hey, looking to move over to LED. Cab im using is 2ft wide, 13" deep, and 30" high. Would a Lighthouse 90w ufo, (not the high output), be suitable for one or two plants start to finish on a 12/12 cycle? OR would the blackstar 100w be better? i plan to LST -Crack

I would like to ask what your budget is for a light? This will make picking a model ez'er.

my budget, the cheaper the better. i would like to keep it under $180
Not gonna happen with the area you want to cover under that price range.......a 2 foot four bulb T5 fixture will rock that space with money to spare. Gonna need to exhaust that cab though. good luck

If you must go with Blackstar (not reliable IMO)I wouldn't go less than the BS 180w due to is rectangular shape and your cab, also you would still need your cfl's on each side of the panel == this may work, but i'm not too optimistic about it. Save a little more and buy a Hans panel for 290 bucks shipped and see yourself what leds can really do in your space.

IF you can keep your temps in check! those mag ballast all in ones get hot, so remember that. Yeah the 150w hps no question, you'll get three times the yield than the BS100. I don't want you to have a bad experience with cheap leds and be tainted by it forever, better to save up and buy quality leds that DO Work well at a significant cost though.

good luck
