I was looking at branded LED lighting and did some research ended up DIY LED grow light saving $$

Your math on the wattage you claiming is all wrong. You will still have to deal with the heat, as if it's a HID because of their less efficient design. You've just been duped by their flalse claims is all. Grow your grow out and see what you get in return.
Really? Please tell/show me where the math is wrong. I am going by the math they presented. Its basic addition. And my tent Temps never go above 75F. They will go over 80F easily with HPS/MH fixtures. LED's are just that much more efficient with heat.

So you think because you read the false claims by the seller (they from China and there are no laws against false advertising) that you are smarter than everyone who has been doing this for some time?

Proof is what gets people's attention and changes opinions, just saying. Run a journal on your grow.

You are still missing the point. If what you're saying is true, then both of these LED's combined will pump out about 800w-1000w, but at a 480w power draw total for both at the wall.
Simple concept: Your led ISN'T any more efficient than a HPS lamp. That means it will require the SAME amount of watts.

How is that true when I would be raising the temps in the tent which will require more accessories to keep the temp down? As well as less power draw from the LED fixtures?

I’m not trying to be toxic nor am I trying to make assumptions that I am smarter than anyone. I was presented with numbers that I added up and came to the conclusion LED is much more efficient than HPS/MH

You came up with the fake numbers the manufacturer gave you. They are fake numbers they made up to get gullible people to buy their lights. You are one of the ones who fell for it hook line and sinker. Not only did you fall for their lies but you preaching it to us.

First off, stop calling it 1200 watts. Don't even think it. It is 240 watts (that is even debatable). Thats it. You have 2 240w lights. I don't care if they say they are 10w leds. The only thing that matters right now is how many actual watts the lights draw. You have 480 watts of bottom tier efficiency led lights. Do not utter 1200 watts or you have not learned anything. Not a peep.

You have 480 watts of led lighting that is roughly equivalent to 480 watts of HID lighting.

Get yourself a kill-a-watt meter and see just how many watts the lights are pulling.

Have you ever seen a swap meet car stereo amplifier that is labeled as a 1000 watt amp for like $20? Or a 10" subwoofer labeled as 3000 watts? Same thing as your lights.

Ok then I will make the exchange for HID. 1000w MH/HPS to much for a 2x4x6? Or should I get 2 500w so I can cover more area?
