I used Uncle Bens' method and cloned

I'm new to topping but when I read UBs sticky I fully understood what he was saying and how his method works. After reading i decided to do a little surgery on one of my plants. The story goes like this...

Step one- Grew plant till it had five nodes

Step two- Prepared tools rockwool, scissors, Foxfarm organic soil, H2O, pot, razor blade, and cloning gel.

Step three- Soaked rockwool cube for 10 minutes

Step four- I put just enough soil in the pot so the cube is level with the rim of the pot and then backfilled the sides around the rockwool cube.

Step five- Cut the trunk above the second node and placed into a cup of tap water for around a minute

Step six- With a razor blade I cut the tip of the trunk at a 45 degree angle, also i scarified the truck a little before dipping the top-clone into rooting gel for a few seconds.

Step seven- Placed top-clone in rockwool, trimmed the bottom leaves, and trimmed the ends of the top leaves.

Step eight- Watered and sprayed the leaves.

Hope it roots! What do you think?

It works I've done it like this before only difference was I used perlite mixed with soil. Sounds like you got it right though, should be a success.

thats exactly how I was going to do it too!!!! keep posting and let us know how it went ill subscribe!!!! +reps to you

A few comments - no need to trim away leaf matter, you're cutting back on photosynthesis - not good.

Make sure you have at least one node treated and "underground" as that's where roots will show first.

Good luck,
UB

So do you think I should take it out and strip a little off at the first node then re dip it in gel? Also i thought trimming plant matter was good for clones so they wont have as much to support?

ben, what if the nodes are so close together that when you make your cutting (topping) you only have a half inch of stalk before the first set of leaves. should you strip the leaves off to put it deeper in the medium?

Yep. You want a clean trunk below the soil line.
