I need to defoliate but im too scared!!

As was mentioned, and I speak from experience, remove leaves and buds that are too far down to receive adequate light. The plant will focus her energy on the remaining buds and you will actually get a better yield from those than you would without LP'ing.

Isn't lollipoping aggressive defoliation or no? I thought it was since your removing all the fan leaves, small stems, and small buds at the bottom! I'm assuming if I don't do aggressive defoliation I'm not going to have a big harvest and will learn the hard way.
Defoliation is removing leaf matter only. Pruning is removing small branches at the bottom or removing anything that won’t reach the canopy and produce. Also labeled lollipopping
 
I’ve circled some branches you could remove, the leaves and larfy buds should come with them when you cut the branch. Any other small branch you see like them can also come off, and once again the leaves and larf will come off with them.

This might not matter but since these are braches I'm taking off is there a good time of day or night to do this, or does it not matter? I've only taken off fan leaves and it didn't matter when I did that.
