i need help asap .

i want to know whats a good soil to use its my first grow ??? or if i should use a cup or what kind of pot should i use please help me out dudes thanx... keep it tokin

Ok I'm on my first soil grow. I've done hydro before So I can only report what I have experienced. I started in a mix of Miracle Grow *Organic Potting Soil (Found at Wal-Mart, and Home Depot). I mixed that with MG (Miracle Grow) Perlite. My mix was about 70% MG *Organic, and 30% Perlite. I added 1 Tbsp of "Garden Lime" per gallon of soil mix(Found at Home Depot) made by "Espoma". The seedlings in this mix did terrific.

I did two mixes of soil, b/c MG (Miracle Grow) has a very negative conotation among marijuana growers. The other soil I used was "Scotts Potting Soil". All I did was mix 1 Tbsp "Garden Lime" b/c it had about 10% perlite added already. The seedlings in that soil did not thrive. They sprouted but very slow compared to the MG *Organic.

Also the Scotts did not have enough Perlite in it, and started to sprout shrooms early on. They weren't the good kind Eventually I replanted the seedlings into the MG *Organic mix. They improved.

The seedlings were all in 16 oz. cups for about 1 month. They ate up all the nutes in the soil. I recently transplanted into bigger 3 gal. pots w/ more MG *Organic mix. They are doing just fine right now When I transplanted into the new soil. There is new nutes that havn't been eaten up by the plants yet. So they are doing just fine w/o nutes for now, and it's been a little over a month.

The perlite was added to the soil b/c it helps w/ drainage, and prevents molds and other stuff like root rot.
The "Garden Lime" was added to help balance pH. Lime boosts acidic levels of pH into the neutral zone

Man the lighting is the only thing I hate. I only have a 250w MH (Metal Halide). I wish I had a 400w HPS (High Pressure Sodium). I'll be getting one soon

Well I got two strains going on. I got some *Ice from Nirvana. I also have some Northern Light. Those seeds are from last summer, and I forgot where I got them. The shorter bushy ones are the *Ice. The longer ones are those NL (Northern Light).

BTW the ones that are in the small cups. Those are the ones that were planted originally in "Scotts Potting Soil". Pretty weak huh. I did 4 NL seeds. Two in MG, and two in Scotts. I did the same thing to the *Ice. I did that to really determine which soil was better. Obviously the MG *Organic kicked ass

Ya of course. Well the only way I felt secure is b/c RIU (rollitup.org) personally recommends them So ya there safe they were a tad slow for me (15 days). That was just me. I'm in Texas, and ppl say they've gotten them in like 6 days.

O I remember where I got the NL. It was from an online shop called AMS (amsterdamseeds.com). Ya they were faster took them like 5 days from the day I ordered.

Next time I order will be from Attitude (cannabis-seeds-bank.co.uk). They have a huge selection, and they are highly regarded

Ya if you're gonna order from Nirvana you'll be good

If you do use the MG make sure it's the organic potting soil (it's in a orange bag, w/ vegetables on the front. I used to have a picture, but I deleted it srry ) make sure to add perlite. I don't know if you "NEED" the "Garden Lime", but I've been using tap water, and it's been ok.

If you use tap water. I've been letting the tap water evaporate by letting the water sit out in a watering can for at least 24 hrs
