I have an unusual problem

I was germinating some Wonder Woman seeds about a month and a half ago. A few of them did not crack after about 2 weeks so instead of throwing them away I planted them in an 8 gallon pot which currently has flowers growing in it. Well, today I came outside and low and behold a lovely sprout has come up more than a month after I planted it. I wasn't really planning on it so now Im' not sure what to do. Will it continue to grow in the same pot as the flower? Should I try to kill the flower? I can't pull the flower up by the roots because it will take the sprout with it. Any advice would be appreciated.

Maybe leave the little plant in there until it gets bigger. Then dig the little plant out without damaging the roots, keeping the dirt around roots, transplant in its own pot.

I would dig the little plant out when it gets sturdier, give it a few more weeks.

IMHO:bigjoint:

What do you think would happen if I just let it continue to grow in that pot with the flower?

Yea probably. Its in a nice big pot with good soil now though. Wish I could just kill the flower and keep it in that one.

little plant's roots will get entangled with the flower, but might grow big anyway. You could trim the flower plant so the little plant has better chance. Depends on if you want to keep both.

Just seen your recent post - i would try to kill the flower, chopping the branches off down to the soil.

Wait a few days before disturbing the little plant.

Thanks. Yea, I don't care about the flower. I was thinking of just wacking it and hoping the roots and whole thing dies. Would the dead roots maybe even make a better compost?

Wait 1 1/2 weeks- 2 weeks and then transplant it would be a safer option. But then again either way you are taking a risk on your plant. Do what feels right, and what may be easier.

It takes a while for the roots breaking down, until then they just get in the way. Judging from the stalk in the top of the picture there is a pretty dense root system down there.

Yea I think youre right. It definitely has a dense root system. I'll dig the little plant out next week. How far down should I dig? How long is the root right now?

Root can be few inches tall, with little roots around it. I'm thinking dig around the plant a few inches, deep don't know, use a little shovel. You want to get a lot of the dirt with the roots already established.
