I feel like watching trichs seems like a big waste of time

So I got me a scope to check out my trichs finally and I have been watching them for a bit now, perhaps I am doing something wrong but with few exceptions the only thing I ever really witness is the MILKY and CLEAR with an occasional amber.

You see I do a perpetual grow so I have my plants in many different phases of growth, when I look at the trichomes of a plant 30 days in flower....I see mostly milky some clear...when I look at a plant 11 weeks in flower...I see......mostly milky and some clear...12 weeks same thing, 7 weeks same thing, 6 weeks same shit.

If you ask me looking at trichomes seems like almost a waste of time and it makes me scratch my head when I read over and over articles which put great emphasis on the trichomes, I feel like trichomes are a very small part of the puzzle when you are determining ripeness. Am I wrong or right? whats your take?

Something I'm gonna try - with my first grow at about 8 weeks (even with still feeding) some of the fan leaves start to go yellow...thats the plant telling you its ready, so if they start going yellow even when you're still feeding - start the flush and prepare for a nice harvest coz they're ready!

I think some strains don't ever get the amber trichomes on them. I have noticed what you are describing. But, then again, I have seen some strains that get lots of amber on them around week 8-9, so ... I would say its a strain thing. What strains are you working with?

I dunno if it's true or not, but I recently read that if you harvest when the trichomes are just starting to turn cloudy, it's an "up" kind of buzz. If you wait til there's lots of amber, it'll be a "glued to the couch" high. The article recommended harvesting somewhere in the middle of both extremes to get a balanced high.

Again, I don't know one way or another if the above is accurate

If your trics are turning from swelled clear too cloudy or amber THC is being degraded to CBN and CBL. Time to pick when they sparkle

Yeah that sticky the guy bases plant being ripe when all the pistils are red and receded. Seems that wouldnt work on all strains.
