Hydroponics vs Soil grow indoor

I'm a newbie...I tried growing in soil first. Dismal failure. After that I set up a cheap hydro system and just follow the instructions...I've not been growing totally problem free, but it's a hell of a lot easier and my plants are still alive! (I have an awfully black thumb). And the plants grow much faster. Plus hydro is generally a better smoke.

Which is better for beginner and good buds? Hydro or Soil grow?:leaf:

There can be problems and headaches either way so I doubt that one could honestly be called easier or better when it comes to someone new to growing. Both take time to learn and you have to do things right either way. But the final results of hydro are better so that has to be considered.

Myself I have been considering going to aeroponics and while I am not saying that is easier or better for someone new it just appeals to me and seems like something I would prefer over other growing systems given all that I have read about it.

Before you dive in headfirst you may want to watch the video made by Greenman. It may help a great deal in your decision making process. He walks you through the construction of a grow room to making the hydro setup out of things you can purchase from many places to popping your beans and all the way to drying your harvest.

Check it out … its cool and it is informative. It is like 7 parts if I remember right but it is worth the time to watch.

how hard can soil be???? its a weed not hard to grow...it can be grown just about anywhere in dirt.... no $$ cost

why do you think weed has survived for 1000s of years growing in dirt ....not in hydro.:-P:weed:

yeah i researched that green man setup ... cost like ... 1500 ... FUCK that .. i'd go soil .. but that's only cause i grow outdoors and it's amazing lol

I know a bunch of people would disagree with saying that an AeroGarden is a good way to go for beginners. And I DO think that there is a lot of extra you have to put into it to get the AG to be a good set-up, but I think it's a good way for someone to at least look at and get a better idea of how Hydro works, even if it's just for growing vegetables or flowers. I think a person who has some skill and a good set of power tools, etc. could probably make a pretty good knockoff with it being an improved set-up for a lot cheaper. On the other hand, I think the nutrients that the AG provides for the tomatoe kit makes the whole thing a lot easier for a first time grower. So I think that there is a toss-up. So I guess I didn't answer the question, but I think I gave some feedback, even if nobody finds it useful.

the only thing i can say is... DIY and save $$$ a small (2-8) plants hydroponic setup can be done for under 500$ and is very easy to do. They are few type of system of course, i chosen Flood and Drain but if i had to start over i would build Aeroponic. I read so much great thing about it.. Anyway this 1500$ can finance a 50+ mid sized hydro plants room.

It's not a weed. I weed is an undesired plant :eyesmoke:

yes he is right .. a weed is defined as a plant that is growing where it isnt wanted .. but it's vigorous LIKE a weed i guess u could say lol

The reason I call it a weed is it goes throught the same stages of growth as weeds....besides everyone has called MJ weed at some point:lol:

remeber everything you read is going to be great. Hydro and soil growers both think great. And they got their points.

I just grew a crop and a half in 5 in rock wool pots on an ebb and flo. I am medical. This means idiot. Lol, you see my 5 in rockwool plants did good but only 1 ounce each. So with low plant numbers I was stupid to not go for huge pots.

So i decided to do 5 gallon trees this time. I thought hydro because that is all the experience I have. Then i realised that I really got a thing for organic. I started reading around and saw all the great things organics dirt can do. Also how much easier and cheaper it is too do soil. After all If I got an apt inspevtion I would rather hide 5 gallon bucketts of dirt than 5 gallon bucketts of water. Lol.

So I made a snap decision and went with dirt this time around. Now everything I read is good but it came down really to personal choice. How many plants can I have and how much space do I have???

I am going soil! Organic!
