Hydroponics or compost? what do you use and why?

I've seen people drown plants by just using rockwool cubes and NO air supplied.

smoked same strain growen in dirt and hydro they tasted different to me i like hydro
the bud growen in dirt didn't taste like dirt but it was different from the hydro
I use a vaporizer all the bud tastes much better if growen hydro but that's just me
