Another thing, since 1971 one hundred seventeen exonerations. What would have happened if technology hadn't caught up in time for some of these 'murderers?'
They would have been murdered by the state and then only remembered as what? That 'crazy' guy who killed that entire family in cold blood. OH WAIT he was innocent and now dead too? Dang. Guess we missed that one huh?
We'll do better next time I guess huh?
I try to have faith in humanity, but state sponsored murder of people innocent or guilty of anything is completely unacceptable.
Death is not a deterrent.
Death is not intended as a punishment.
It is revenge. Pure and simple.
*edit* I have found with more research that the Narional Academy of Sciences published a great report stating that 4% of current death row inmates are innocent. I also found out that the amount of exonerations is 312 just from DNA testing.
