HUD Housing - Potential Problems?

I work two jobs and pull ~1500 net a month. In my area, housing is not cheap and neither is electricity. For a decent two bedroom apt its about 650/mo plus utilities and you get a ragged place with pissy landlords. Electricity is about $0.20/kWh throughout the city. Smaller, decent 2 bedroom houses start at around 750 plus utilities. I was able to find a HUD unit at 500/mo and they pay water. 2 bedroom, 1 bath, with a basement PERFECT for my tent. The problem is its federally funded and they do inspections every few months to make sure the place isnt trashed, and maintenance does yearly checks.

I wonder if they would report my grow (if they actually opened it up to find out what it was) to the feds? I stay within my state limits. I dont think maintenance would have an issue with it if the electric work was done up right. The circuit breaker is right there in the basement.

Im thinking I should just keep looking around, it just sucks that I found a place with such a reasonable price and growing conditions that I would have to turn it down.

That is a toughy. Personally I would not chance that, that particular thing has potential to really piss off a judge or prosecutor that thinks a small tent equates big money. IMHO, state funded I would be very hesitant, federally funded - hell, fuck no - I wouldn't even try it. That is just me.
