HPS street light

Okay so I'm trying to get a good deal on eBay and I've noticed some people are trying to sell HPS street lights (for what reason, I have no idea).

But what I was wondering is where the ballast is, would it be at the top area or in the lamp area?

Sorry if you find it to be a stupid question but if I can get a 250w HPS going for less than $15, I'm going to ask.

Nah thats prolly legit. Its cheap because its a fucking street light... how much market could there possibly be for a streetlight?

Granted you recieve what you see in the picture, that light is BEGGING to be adapted to a grow room. I saw that on there a few days ago too actually.

i would buy an actual HPS. i don't know how street lights work. but i think they turn on when it's dark and turn off when it's light.. unless you take out the relay.. but that's cheap for HPS. if you can figure it out do it.

Okay so I sent a message to the eBayer because he said in the description that it has a 110v plug on the wire. So now I'm a bit confused but we'll see.

The ballast for that light is inside the light housing.

That light is a peice of junk in all honesty,i understand being on a budget/tight on cash or simply not wanting to invest large amounts of cash into lighting but you can do much better than that peice of crap for under $50 & have your choice of High Pressure Sodium or Metal halide.

When your on ebay use the main search bar & enter "HIGH BAY LIGHTING" or "LOW BAY LIGHTING" as seperate search terms, what these searches will show is used & new warehouse lighting, high bay & low bay are allmost allways hps or mh with the vast majority being 400 watt models, what seperates high bay from low bay is the reflector & nothing more, both will work perfect for indoor grow op's.

Here you go with some links, keep in mind that most guys selling used high/low bay lights are very willing to cut deals for in person cash purchases if you dont go through ebay, email a seller in your area & pick up in person.

High bay.

Low bay.

http://shop.ebay.com/items/?_nkw=low+bay+lights&_sacat=0&_fromfsb=&_trksid=m270.l1311&_odkw=low+bay+lighting&_osacat=0

These are the lights im talking about, you can pick them up all day long for about $25 each & the ballast is much easier to turn into a remote ballast.

Eh, got the light up to $40.00 + Shipping, IMO: hardly worth it. I didn't notice there was a fuckin' reserve on it. Oh well, I will keep my eye out more. :(

fuck that. i got my 400 for 25 dollars from a ''cluck''. it happens. just steal one off a pole.
Why anybody would risk a felony charge over something that can be bought all day long for $50 or less is beyond me,seems a bit drastic risking a felony conviction over a fifty dollar bill

BTW,wtf is a cluck ?

That or possible electric shock, if not worse.

Checked the link you posted earlier, seems interesting and got me thinking I may be able to find something like that around here for crazy cheap, luckily I have time to pick.

Thanks BTW.

ive purchase 3 of those highbay lights already. 400 hps comes with a polycarbonat reflector but not sure if the reflactor will reflect the correct spectrum. still researching to. so far with shipping ive paid $31.00 , $37.00, and $40.00. oncce i get 1 more i will let someone know in about week or 2 where they can have a shot at getting one. they only auction 1 per week.

As I posted before sounds shady and I say that because I once knew someone who stole a streetlight and he thought it would be a good idea to grow with. Later on like months later the cops came a knocking asking about a missing street light. And this dude was like in his 40s shows how stupid people can really be.:cuss:

Wow, that sucks. Yeah, I wouldn't think about stealing a street light just for the fact I have a small phobia around electricity. We have a recycling center here, I might check that out...

I remember them having a lot of stop lights and stuff like that.
