HPS for both veg/flower?

So, I am about to start a new small grow. Approx. 5ftW X 5FtL X 6ftH. 600W . I've recently noticed I have only flowering bulbs left (don't ask), and am wondering can I use it for both cycles of life for them? I know the spectrum means a lot, and you're supposed to be imitating outside - on the inside. So , I am not sure how the full yellow all the way through will effect it, if any. Or the spacing of branches, density; things of that nature.

Anyone have any experience with this? Pros, cons? And possibly any pictures? Also, anything I should expect different during the cycles compared to normal MH/HPS switch. All info is greatly appreciated .

Thanks in advance .

some will tell you of stretch and hermies and such. I dared it, did it, saw absolutely no difference in veg between hps and mh.
I use t5 now for my win in veg, huge difference in btu control
I did see a marked improvement mixing hps with mh in flower though and will always do that.

Ive noticed some people get hermie plants regardless though haha. But I agree ! And thanks for the input. I've kinda been curious to see some finish product next to a same strain grown under changed lights half way. But, I guess soon enough I will.

Thanks again for the input

I have used both. I started using MH then flowering with HPS but on a couple of occasions plants were so stocky and got so little stretch that I lost on yield. So I switched to veg under 400w and flower under 600w and although internodes where further apart I did ok with it all the way through. Hermies from vegging with HPS. I don't see why that would happen.
You could buy a MH bulb though if you wanted to. Not that expensive. I just picked one up today because my 315cmh in veg tent wasn't warm enough now cold weather is here and I already had my fans on minimum.
600w is a bit weak for a 5x5 though, there's a big difference between 4x4 and 5x5. I would keep within a 4x4 footprint.

I was thinking that too, on the space vs wattage aspect- but it's more higher space than larger in width /depth. What I mean, the room/ space isn't too too big at all. Just tall. That 6ft height can be lowered (the light can be hung that high in total )and make the space more confied(lights closer to plants).

Still think that would be a problem much?

I'm not sure I follow your drift. But if you had a 600 high enough it will cover all 5x5, 25sqaure foot. But to do that it would be piss weak across the whole lot of plants. You would want to have it close enough so it covers a 4x4 area and keep your plants within that, which would mean a good level of light intensity across your 4x4 canopy. That would give better results than trying to cover the whole 5x5 with a weaker intensity. You could grow more plants covering the 5x5 but you wouldn't yield more because buds would be less dense.
But as Rocky above said, a 1000w would be perfect for the whole area. But if you don't have the cash to do that, the best option is to only use 4x4 area within your 5x5. You catch my drift?
