Say I have a 2x4 tent with 1 400W CMH light, how long would you suggest vegging two plants?

I am trying to figure out my next run and how long it will take, since i will soon know my flowering times.
4-8 weeks depending on how much training you do, but that's only thinking about your light.. how much space is that 2x4 ft(lol unlikely) or m?

If meters you'd be set for 8 weeks straight up too if you do them compact. 2 months of veg makes for a lotta bud later on... I'd probably do 6 weeks veg under a 400w.

34"x54" so 2.8ft deep by 4.5ft wide.

I measured the screen I have in there, it is suspended by joint on the corner poles.

Guess the next strain I plan on running gets 8ish weeks veg, thanks :) btw I dont plan to use a scrog again in this space, I want the ability to swap my plant from its bucket to a new bucket, so I can clean the buckets weekly. I like the end weight of a scrog, but it seems to require more work (Especially with DWC), which I want less of lol..

I hear you Bargar. I wish I could take my buckets out too.

As an alternative you could use a hygrozyme or h2o2 to keep your buckets clean - only if you're using synthetic ferts. Then use a small electric pump or hand bilge pump to change the rez completely. My buckets have sat for over 9 weeks and I've never cleaned them (during the grow). there's a little bit of residue but nothing I'm overly concerned about. Two weeks... done

Hey Void, I have a Jack Herrer clone that I'm planning to use as mother. My only issue is it was started in soil. I may have already asked you. Can I transplant it to hydro? Or is it better to leave it in soil? Also do you top your mothers? This will be my first time raising a mother. What advice can you give? It has at least doubled in size. I'm thinking its ready to be moved from the cup. I have 2 different size pots 1.5gal & 4gal. I would prefer to go hydro. What would you suggest?

Well I don't use mothers.. but you can transplant from soil to DWC rather easily by washing the roots gently of any dirt and then place in your medium of choice.. I suggest doing some research on it, I don't have any pics to show you or anything.

When I finally do mother I'll probably FIM instead of top so that I can take more clones later from the lower nodes and just let the tops grow out, but keeping FIMing them.

Thanks! That's all I needed. What medium do you suggest for DWC?

I like to use the classic hydroton/rockwool combination, but that's just because it's always been readily available to me as well as what I've always done. There's probably better mediums out there.. but rockwool isn't bad or hard or anything, some people just don't read up enough on it before they use it.

i like to use Sure to Grow 1.5 x 1.5 cubes..their idiot proof..lol
Is it that obvious I need idiot proof? LMAO. Are those a Rockwool or other medium? I'm going to use hydtotron type clay and possibly loose Rockwool for my clone. Only because she is being transplanted from soil to DWC. I have some sponge type root cubes from my previous soil grow that I will use before switching. They worked fine. I took 21 cuttings with them on my first ever attempt at cloning. Out of the 21, 19 rooted. That was better results than I expected. Has anyone used willow water when cloning? I'm not sure if I read about it here or somewhere else. I used it with this clone. It is said to increase root growth by 30%. My clone was rooted when I got it but it seems to have done well. Im transplanting today but here are pics of her growth from the time I brought her home until last night. The first 2 are the day I got her. The other 3 were taken this week. She has been getting willow water with 1/4 strength Supernatural brand Super Soak 5-30-20. Seems to have done ok. What do you guys think? Ok well I think it changed the order but I'm sure you can see which were the first pics. It was cloned on 10/10 and I got it on 10/15.

I'm using Grodan's brand rockwool.. 1inch cubes, I have some 3inch inserts that I never use too..
So you go with the 1" and put that into hydrotron once they have rooted? I believe that is how I think I will go one mommy is ready. So about FIM'ing I've looked through some threads where it was discussed but I'm still not 100% sure I understand how it is done. How much should I cut? Will it be enough to try getting a clone from? Should I transplant first or FIM first? I assume doing them at the same time would be too much stress.

Yes 1" cubes ontop/between hydroton in my net pots after I see a root, but I do from seed grows..

You should only FIM once a plant is established, I wouldn't FIM earlier than five good nodes.

Ok. If it works for you I'll try it. So I should transplant first. Will it make much difference if my plant is a little bigger than when It's FIM'ed?

You said you like to FIM when there is 5 nodes. What if I wait until after it settles in to the hydro transplant and it has 6-7 nodes? Would that hurt the plant or make it no good for a mother? Here is a few pics taken just now. Thanks for all the help.

Yeah the only difference would most likely be recovery time would be shorter on a bigger plant. You'll get the same FIM result from the same FIM anywhere pretty much.. plant size depends on how long it takes to heal.

Hey been busy so didn't have time to play. Here's a few pics. Seems to be good to me. Can I FIM now? I'll give more details as I have time. Biggest prob. So far is cool the res.

Looks big enough to me to FIM.. I wouldn't do it before five nodes personally, but I'm limited by horizontal space so I don't do it all currently. Also, look up at the first post man, frozen water bottles in water that goes around the bottom of your rez works nice.
