How to cut clones?

Not sure if this is already listed elsewhere on the site...I'm guessing yes. But I was wondering if there is a way I can take cuttings from my plant to grow some clones. I have some lower branches that I don't expect to produce real well and I want to get rid of them so that they stop consuming plant energy. Can I cut them and get them to root for use as clones??

THanks a bunch!

They work. You also want to use sterilized scissors and cut the stem at an angle right above the node.
Awesome. I can manage that. After taking the cuttings do I use any sort of rooting hormone? Do I place the cut stem into water or soil? What is the best way to get roots to form?

I think rapid rooters are the best cloning medium. The two keys to successful cloning are heat and humidity. You want like 99% humidity (get a dome or make one) and 80 to 85 degree temps. Leave lights on 24/7. They don't need a lot of light, one cfl is enough. Spray the clones/dome once or twice a day. Use rooting hormone to increase result rates. Should see roots in 7 to 14 days.

Super helpful. Thanks so much!

No need for sterilising anything if you don't have the gear, and no need to use any additives to get em to root iff again, you don't have it. I would nearly always just use a rusty dirty stanley knife blade and just bung it in some soil or a rockwool cube. Always worked just fine.

Do you shave off some of the sides of the stem? I have heard this not sure?

Why are you asking? It's more than obvious that you have actually used the search button... or did you just think up the name "rooting hormone"? And from the sound of it... you know enough to put the cut clone into water until you are ready to plant it... or was that a reference to a bubble cloner?
