How to avoid mold in drying and curing stage

good day guys,
My plants still about a month away to havarest. I'm worry about the drying and curing process as I will pull more this run. Need long term storage for the buds.

I have done two way to dry. And get mold either way.

1. Trim them to finished shape, but don't break the nugs drying on hanger for 3-5 days. Till out feel outside its dry put it in the brown paper bag for another 3-5 days. Then put it into dry

2. Use hand spin trimmer trim it all, and break down all the nugs, drying on the screen. Drying for 5-7 days. And put it into jar.

Both way I end up with mold. in about two weeks after chop. Don't smell good on the outside, but when pinch on it can feel still kind of soft. Should be some moisture in it. Also good smell came out when I pinch it.
Not sure which part I fucked up. Thinking maybe they weren't dry enough to put in the jar. Or the RH it too high here. Can not bring down RH when curing in the jar. I will get some Bobeda for curing this time.
Just trying to find the right way to dry and cure buds.
Any feedback or inputs are welcome
Cheers

i dont like to dry on racks as buds touch each other i prefer to trim and hang them upside down so no buds are touching ive never had mold on my nugs i dry hanging like that for about 2weeks then put them into a jar to cure
What's your dry room RH and temp?
How do you feel when you pinch it when finish drying two weeks?

i dry in my closet temp can vary depending on if my ac is on that day or not can be from 66f to 80f or higher i dont even keep track of rh in there only the grow i just keep a small oscillating fan blowing towards them and there good to go i never touch my buds when drying i dont want to lose trichs by pinching and touching them i just wait till my stems snap cleanly then put them to cure. small airy buds dry faster than big dense ones so point is they wont all be dry at the same time

also if you let the soil completely dry for a few days before you harvest there will be less moisture in the plant my plants usually get the last watering 6 to 9 days be4 i chop them

I harvest my babes cutting them buds down to about a foot long

and hang on prepped line above my furnace when cold and wet

leave for 10 days minimum if damp out maybe 2-3 weeks

snap a stem for a loud click ...when ready

always keep a temp and RH gauge near

is imo

good luck

ps store in a large jar with 2 silica packs

for a gaurreented 65% dry

once you done drying put in into jars, How often do you open the jars open? Thinking about Boveda this time, if I dry it properly, there is not need to open jars right?

Yes, I did that for one pot, that one dry quicker than others. but this run I got it in ebb and gro system.
very appreciate for all the inputs

Good day Vostok,
thanks for the feedback

have some questions here,
whats temp RH in your drying room?
Isnt that silica packs pull out too much moisture have buds dry when stored in large jars?
Will have some Boveda packs in large jar with small thermometer in it.
dont have any loose this time. gotta make sure how dry them well, good enough for storage months

I leave it on the stalk until it's done, that way it's easier to just rehang it after the sweat. I sweat it just long enough after the first hanging so the moisture is evenly distributed, then rehang. Repeat this until it's done or reached the proper dryness, then snip it off the stalk and pack it away. Don't over sweat.

I do the sweat in a beer cooler but a plastic bag would do the same.

I dry on nets and break everything down to singe buds, so no massive colas. All I use for airflow is 2x 6" PC fanc running on half power so there is no stagnation of air. They are at room temp. I can fit 12-16 ounce on one net (which is 3feet by 1foot)and it can be 3 buds deep. I have never ever had mould when drying. That is likely because I am lucky in I don't live in a hot or humid climate. Or maybe the temps are just ideal.
Are you sure there was no mould pre harvesting?
Edit, my buds are fully trimmed pre drying, no leaf mass to add moisture and minimum stalk.
I know that is not traditional but works for me on over 60 harvests

i burp my jars 2x a day most of the time but i have a few jars with no need to burp as they have a gas release valve but when i do use a regular jar i always try to burp it 2x a day it helps that i always do multiple strains so im always dipping into dif jars for dif smoke out of all the problems you could run into while growing mold shouldnt be one its completely avoidable. Rushing the dry and cure will almost always be the reason you get mold ( if it wasnt already present in the grow) best way to avoid it is good airflow

Appreciate your feedback!
I always fully trim before dry. I have net too. I might give a shot like you do for this harvest.
I think my problem should be not dry enough to put in jars.
Im sure they dont get mold when I chopped them. smell fantastic when I chop.
I started to burn them when I done drying. they were fine, and have mold smell after few days.

Thanks for the input again. sure be more passion this time

If you have no mould pre harvest then I dare say it is as simple as not drying enough before trying to cure.
Also to sweat means to perspire. That's the only word I can think of to explain sweat.

Have you a link to that comment, as I often try to grow 3 foot colas indoors,
please understand my grow space is so small the colas so BIG, I can't get a fuckoff

Happy weekend RIU,

Its almost time to harvest!!
This time I am gonna make sure I dry it till can hear click sound.
tops will be hand trimmed, and lower buds will use hand spin trimmer.
Last harvest trimmed off leaves from spin trimmer also got mold.

I wonder how do you dry your trimmed off?
What do you do with your trimmed off?
I usually use it to make BHO
would like to know what else can I do with those trimmed off leaves

Any feedback would be appreciate
cheers
