How often to flood loose rockwool?

Hi everyone -

I'm setting up a system very similiar to Al B's SOG. I've scoured that thread for hours and can't seem to find how often to flood the trays...I'll be using loose rockwool. I've found in the thred that if using clay pellets flood for 2-3 minutes every 60-90 minutes but I can't seem to find for rockwool...

Rockwool as you have found by research is very absorbent and unlike pellets or rocks holds a butt load of water. In my opinion if your using rockwool you could flood once a day and only for a few mins.

Now you could go twice a day like i do but you can run into problems like over watering and such but for now i dont have any problems.

Try it out play with it and if your set up can run more than once then go with it. If your plants start to act funny and not in a Ha Ha way cut it back.

Hey dragon ...sparkies right .. dont flood to much ,the best way to tell is weigh your pots of media dry , flood , then reweigh , water again when half the water weight is gone.. what ever that is

Yep, pots of RW floc should be flooded 1x/day, you might get away with 2x/day with large, vigorous plants.
