How much would you pay?

Opiated

Dang 100 a pop? I could see why, but I couldn't see me paying that. I was thinking the coke is worth like $60

What the hell exactly is a thai stick? Someone break this down for me, lol. I've heard too many different things. And I thought that was decades ago like the acapulco gold bud etc.

A 1/4 of opium sounds tasty. Can't do opiates though
$60.00 for a "G" of "Pink Flake"???!!!...it was $120.00 a "G" in the late 70s/early 80s...I'd pay $200.00 a "G"...Alex

I'm just kidding, but that's an outrageous price imo. 60 was low balling though :)

What the hell were coke prices like back then anyways?

Methaqualone is fucking awesome and there's folks who remember them fondly who have established themselves in life and have ridiculous amounts of disposable income. Some years ago there was a big bust of a group that was making it and the final price was like $30 a pill or something. Even wholesale they were going for $7 and those were just the right active ingredient. I imagine there's some rich folks who would happily have a bidding war for some legit 714s.
I'm sure teh coke could be had much cheaper but I'm a purity fanatic and will pay a premium for it.

It's my understanding that Thai stick was dipped in a solvent hash oil which accounts for the extra potency. Makes way more sense than opium.

had my share of them in the late 70's. don't remember 1979:) also the time of Tuinal, Seconal and Nembutal. Thai stick I saw was always tied with a red string and powerful. Wouldn't pay anything now for the downs as I consider myself lucky to still be alive from their embrace. I do like good cocaine and would bid on that.

Yeah I'm kinda glad that those were all long gone by the time I started doing drugs. I do love my downers the samples I've had of some old school ones make me think I'd be in some serious trouble if they were readily available.

The real lowland tai was not wrapped around bamboo but sticks of hemp and tied with hemp fiber. As they vres more and more popular, the folks tended to use what was handy. It was a pure sativa with few seeds and came in pressed bricks wrapped in newspaper. Memory fails me, were I to try to compare them to todays smoke but it was damn strong at the time.

Well since I never had the pleasure to take ludes since they were a little before my time, I'd probably pay $10 a pill. Maybe a bit more. I'd do $20-30 for the mescaline and $20 for the acid. Anything else I either wouldn't be interested in or can make/find myself.

thanks canndo...i knew it was a stick and fiber..was allways told it was bamboo, but i can see how the stringy fiber could be mistaken..I myself would only purchase them for novelty..I'm sure Thai sticks back then are low level pot compared to today's pot..

I've smoked enough old school genetics to doubt that we have actually made big improvements to potency. The big difference is that most top quality pot is grown indoors in controlled environments rather than dealing with Nature.

They were not, contrary to popular belief, dipped in opium or anything else. Recall that back then, anything that was as potent as tai was suspected to have been tampered with. Most times, they smelled strongly of cat piss. I did, however, on one occasion encounter some that I was certain WAS adulterated by something. The main reason I knew was what collected in the screen of my pipe. After smoking a few stickes through the pipe we would scrape off this strange goo, smoking that gave us a very distinct nod. I suspect that someone somewhere, perhaps in Viet Nam might have added a touch of something to it . I don't recall specifics but we must have gotten maybe 10 lbs of them over a two year period, then we never saw them again.

Oh, they were not from taiwan but from Thailand.

Most of the Mexican pot, when it was properly cared for was very strong and because it was grown outside, seemed to have a wonderful high. Panama "red" was quite nice, There really was such a thing as acapulco gold, though it wasn't really gold. Columbian gold WAS - and because of the way it was cured (sweated, under tarps in the sun, like good tobacco), it really did have a glistening gold color and the closest I could come to describing the flavor was butter - really, the smoke was thick and lucious and the high bright and euphoric. Tai always had a tinge of paranoia to it and smooth as the smoke was, it really didn't have much of the flavors in evidence now.

BUT, None of these flavors were "children's tastes", no chocolate, berry, pinapple, bubblegum and the like - they all had exotic spice and earth flavors.

I notice no one is commenting on the temple ball. I found that a fresh temple ball, or finger, of which I had a fair quantity was some of the finest smoke I have ever had. The problem was that it grew moldy so fast. The balls grew a crust that really just put you to sleep, and at times they had veins of white running through it - we were told that was opium - typicaly. But it was simply mold.

Exactly right Canndo. We used to get sticks lightly compressed into bricks. They did vary in quality. The best I ever got was from USAF loadmasters coming straight back from Thailand, some people called them Buddha Sticks. We would pay $15 or $20 per stick, oz's were about $110- $150. Every stick I ever saw, and I've seen a lot, were all wrapped with hemp fiber. 714's would go for around 4 for $1, then quickly skyrocketed to $2 a piece. Those were the days.

I really love the sativa buzz. I had some of Ace's Panama that was really nice. Its going to be my next seed buy but that may be a little while. I also know some folks working with old Mex seed stock that I'm excited to try but that's awhile off yet I'm sure. I have a Columbian Gold x C99 that just started flower that I'm excited to try. Should be nice up smoke at least.

I didn't comment on the hash because I generally am not an indica fan.
Its amazing how the curing process effects the taste of cannabis.

One of the reasons so many bought the opiated hash story was because the nepalese had such a narcotic effect. I never really liked much pot but some of the hash I got was delightful, including fresh nepalese. It was a rare and exotic treat that I was always a sucker for.

BTW, I as well would pay 200 a gram for the pink flake - in the old days even the bunk, which ranged from poor to excelent, went for $100 a gram. We usually got it for 60 in bulk - quarter lbs were usually all we could get at one time.

The tuinal? I would pay 20 each for them now, just for the drunken nostalgia factor - and probably give some of them away so others could see what they missed.

The pure mescaline? maybe 50 each. I doubt I would take a full dose.

i tend to agree with mre, although i haven't had all that many old school genetics.. i think comparing them to today's genetics isn't really comparing apples to apples as back then, most of what made it to the states, was poorly cured, then packaged into god only knows what, smuggled across countless borders, and finally it made it to the smokers hands... lil care was given in the way of handling to say the least..
today, i don't most smokers are, umm, 5 or so people away from the grower, depending on where you live obviously, and more care is given to things like bag appeal, and better drying methods.. i once heard that alcupaco gold got it's gold coloring from being dried out in the mexican sun..we've since learned the light can degrade thc quickly.. can you imagine the post on this site where someone mentions drying and curing their bud out in the sun?? christ..

if you somehow managed to get some thai in thailand, and were compare it to say any modern strain, so long as the drying an curing methods were comparable, i don't think you'd be saying that flavor of the month was better then the thai bud..
