How much light cfl do i need for 2 plants??HELP PLZ!

thx for input, do you know how much lumens ur bulb gives? are they both 2700k or 5500?

Do you know that wattage of each bulb? 2700 and 5500 only refer to their color temperature, the color they give off.

Wow, I totally missed that! That's all my fault haha. That looks like you have a decent amount of watts and lumens, I'd say it's enough for two plants. Typical rule of the thumb is about 100w per plant, and you exceed that, so you should definitely be good. Just might want to think about getting an extra 2700k for flowering.

Hi! The number of plants is irrelevant. Covarage area is what counts. With 6 lights each delivering 2700lm you got 16200lm alltogether (ideally, meaning that you can direct all of the light on to the canopy, which is not achivable even with the best reflectors) so realisticly you will have 15000lm at best.
Now with a min. of 3000lm/sqf needed for flowering you can cover an area of 5 sqf... or (better in my op.) you can cover 3sqf with 5000lm/sqf.
How many plants will you grow in 3 sqf is up to you. You could grow anywhere from 1 to 12 plants in that area. If done right the yield will be pretty much the same no matter the plant count. Only difference will be with time and energy invested in vegetative growth. For that reason alone higher plant numbers are most efficient.

thx for input! yea i heard 100watts per plant should do well so i designed it like this, i also heard like the ratio of 5500k:2700k should be 3:1 so i thought mine is more than enough since i have it like 2:1 ratio. By saying adding in one more 2700k do u mean replace a 5500k by 2700k or add one more in so its 3 2700 and 4 5500?

hey thx for the info! i have a 3x3 grow tent inlined with good reflective materiel all over. I wanna do two plants because this is my first try and if anything goes wrong i m not losing much. If this run turns out to be good i ll play around with the plant counts and see which way works the best!

right now i dont have much money to play with... I would like to get a led but the good ones are too expensive for me right now, the cheap ones, as the members had told me doesnt really work, so, i guess i ll have to set for this for now and wait til i have more money to get an Area 51 LED

Many people get a "decent to good" yield with CFLs. It may not be as high as it could be, but still decent. CFLs are a good way to get started before investing a bunch of $ before you know if you can even grow.
I would shoot for > 150w per plant.

hey thx! I had already spent 200 on the tent and 120 on the fan and carbon filter... so yea i am a bit tight right now, so you say 150 watts for one plant. I really wonder, would it make a difference if i puy 2 plants under the light or just 1 plant? I dont understand... is it like the plants will fight for the light or something? As far as i know the 250watts set up covers more than one plant! I would be really grateful if you can help me out a bit with solving this mistery... been haunting me for weeks now

yea man i read and found that most people get really good result on hps, but it just takes me forever to figure out how to set up that stuff... cfls i just need to make a fixture and put em bulbs together and connect to a chord... leds even easier, plug in, and done. Thx for the input tho, maybe one day in the future when i can figure out how it works i ll try it!

I feel u man i personally have 1300 watts of LED. and i love em but i alsoo invested probably 3k. I don't like the thought going in like i might not b able to grow this and. shouldn't invest bcuz ill fuck up that's a bad way to think... Cfl will do ok i guess in veg but once u go to flower its a joke. With aall tfhe wealth of knowledge on this site and the internet its almost stupid proof to fuck up unless u start with a hydro system , if u take this shit serious and learn u can kill it ur first time just like i did in ffof and perlite.

I got a 150 watt HPS and it's fine for two nice sized plants. I use the CFLs for side lighting. cost $80 with free shipping on Amazon
