Hey all, its time for me to make my 1st good light purchase, this will be my starter light, i will be moving up to the big boy 1,000w when my cash flow allows it, but im looking for something to grow 1 plant with so i can clone it, but it the 400w can handle more then 1, that would be sweet, whats your opinion on amout of plants it will handle. thanks all

depends on the size of the space you are going to grow in,,I used a 400 watter in a small closet,,I would say 4 plants in a small space like this,,but I noticed if you let them get real tall,,the 400 doesnt really penetrate to bottom of plant,,so keep em in check,,good luck

It really isn't as much a question of how many plants, its how big of an area, then how many plants. Using hydro, you could finish 12 plants under that light, decent yield, nothing to write home about. First four weeks of flowering lights, I put 20 under that size light figuring to have some males. Works fine. VV

I throw down about twelve at a time under a 400 watt plan on losing about half at flowering time. I have a large space partitioned off with mylar wrapped cardboard to create a smaller grow corner in the room. So far I've had fairly good yields flowering the plants at about 14 inches they finish at about 2 and a half feet with around 2 oz a piece on them. I trim my larger fan leaves to get better light penetration but from what I've read this isn't recommended.

you are better off makeing the room smaller and useing reflective sides, test show that in a one light system with reflective material all the way around that it increases light by 50 percent, and 30 percent in bigger grow rooms.

2' plus. I don't finish them under that light. When they move to the next table they are under the t-5's. Equivalent to a 600 watt hid. I'm not trying to grow tall plants. VV

i usually throw 4 clones under the 400 hps and after a few weeks under 3-4 cfls.. then as they get bigger i place the cfls at different levels among the leaves to get penetration. thats my closet grow anyway. 4 fems under the 400 watter can be amazons if you give the snoo snoo
