How long to harvest popcorn buds after main

i took off cola and trimed all fans off left plant for a week and its like i got 8 new mini colas
Errr...."new"? That can't be right. Were they there before you chopped the main cola or not? If they really are "new" then they will need 7-9 weeks, like every other new bud needs to mature...

lol i've course they aren't new buds. This thread is about popcorn buds so obviously he's
talking about the maturing of his lower growth after chopping the main cola.

In the cold light of day that is obvious yeah...last night?...not so much ;)

Personally, now I'm sober, I think that the OP maybe cut the first harvest too soon. If the popcorn that was there has really got bigger, then the main cola prolly would have too, meaning it was a premature harvest? :/

Anyway, I just tend to be the kinda person who chops everything at once....

Kinda curious about this now....i have never let a plant over mature but if anyone has harvested top colas when MATURE and left small ones on the plant what happened did they get a boost like your plant does when leaning 1/3 of your bottom branches or will they just stay roughly the same since the plant if fully matured ?? INTERESTING kinda like regeneration but NOT LOL

I did it once, and they stayed the same size, but started growing some odd leaves, like they were re-veggin even though they were still under 12/12. Reckon it was the shock of losing 98% of the plant!!

Same as major says, left the popcorn a week longer once, made no difference,if it did it was totally negligible. Waste of time!

I like to remove most of the lower growth during the last week or so of veg so that i end up with only top buds.

I've heard that letting your harvest go far too long creates seeds in the flowers. Never tried it, but I think I will this time.

i have tried this method with cutting the main cola off and best way to let the lower popcorn buds mature is LEAVE THE WHOLE DAMN PLANT ALONE.

From my EXPERIENCE cutting the main cola because you think its ripe when its not. no matter what the trichomes say it will continue to RIPEN as the lower popcorn buds continue to mature.

You will not gain any extra potency or weight by cutting the main cola first the only thing that will happen is the plant will be in shock for a day or 2 then the remaining bud will continue to mature. if you let the entire plant go an extra week overall you will be more than pleased with the results that you will get.

Dolamic you are correct i let a few of my plants over ripen when i was away on vacation and i came back to find a small amount of seeds halway out of the seed pods on the bottom most branches, it went about 1 week and a half over my usual harvest time (which is longer than most ppl here since they harvest to early)

Then I have to wonder why so many people use CS, Light Poisoning, Gillibibibirium or whatever to create a hermie that makes
male pollen to dash on females if just letting them over ripen will produce seeds? I've been racking my brains trying to find a
way to create a hermaphrodite when I stumbled on the over-ripening method.
