How Long Can I Clone?

i've been growing for awhile now and have been cloning the same plant for 2 years. it started out really nice, so i decided to keep it. nice thick stock, grows like mad and branches nice.
but lately she just is not producing the same amount, although the pot is killer.
is this because it's just getting to be an older plant ( 24th gen ) or do i need to add something. i grow in a bubbler.

also, when i first started with this plant, the weed was good, but now it is just killer. i'd say double what it was when i first started. i got 11 seed off this plant when i first started it and lately i put a few in and got one lady, but the weed isn't too good. i'm just going to clone it a few times before i grow one out again and see if it get any better. hoping .....

but i was thinking, if i breed the old plant, would the seed be more like the old plant (killer weed ) or would it be the same as the old seeds ( good weed ) ???

There's a lot of possibilities in breeding and 1 plant won't necessarily be like others. When breeding it is generally recommended that the offspring be equal or better than the original parent or it isn't worth continuing. Sounds like you just got better at providing for the clone and that's why it is more potent. I would try some other strains for a little variety, I wouldn't want to get rid of a strain because it was too potent, but I have smoked potent herb that the high was not enjoyable to me.

Sounds about right. Plants improve a lot by the third generation, how strong they are, how easy they clone and IMO the quality of the bud. I have done a few different strains over the years and the first two that I did lasted 2-3 years before the genetics started to degrade slightly. The bud was still great, but the steams on the mother plants were not as thick as I wanted for my clones. I have had my WW going for almost two years now and am looking into starting a new strain before my WW starts to show any negative signs.

Some strains are clone only, so I guess it is possible to keep it going forever.
