I have always grown in soil how hard is it to grow hydroponic what are the cons and pros of growing hydro I guess is my question ?

I find hydroponics to be much easier, and the yield is 2 to 5 times more.
It does cost more to get started with hydroponics and you must monitor parts per million of fertilizer in your solution and PH carefully, but the rewards are awesome. It is also a lot more fun.
Hydroponics is like having a volume switch on your crop, you can turn the volume up or down depending how fast you want them to grow. It is also a lot less work. When you do anything to them, it affects all of them at once. You dont have to mess with them individually like in soil.
For a first timer something basic like ebb and flow is simple to learn. Your first crop would be a learning crop, learning the basics. Once you have the basics down, it is soooooo simple and fun.

I agree. I tried soil growing first, but now that I've seen the results, and experienced the ease of hydroponic growing I won't grow in soil again.

water work is the way to gro! personally i started with soil only because i heard it produces tastier buds, well my buds were tasty as hell but i need to ramp up production, and hydro and aero are the way to go, now a days all i have to do is look at my plants and watch the show, no more flushing when i get problems , no more lugging around bags of soil, clean,neat and proffesional

How often do you need to check on a hydro set up because during the day i am gone ? I check on the ones I have in the soil two times a day is that good enough for hydro or will I need more time with them than that. Oh yeah so does it take away from the taste or not because I won't switch to hydro if that is the case cause that is most important to me? Thanks for the replies

damn right. just buy the mesh pots you want cut holes in the rubbermaid the depth you want the pots to sit fill with water until it overlapse the bottom of the pots by about half inch. add an airstone. there is a thread going around about how much air. don't worry just buy a decent aquarium pump and your fine. check out my roots 46 days old

So I am going to want the water to cover the bottom of the pot it won't drown the plant

As long as you use an air stone to keep the water aerated the roots will be fine submurged in nute solution.

As far as maintenance goes, if you use timers you really don't even need to check on them daily. I like to watch mine grow, but I work at home and can do that. I have gone out of town for a few days sence I've had my setup. When I came back my babys didn't even know I was gone. They just keep on growing. All I have to do is change the solution every Monday and they love me for it.

here man. this should be everything you need. Also please don't critisize my setup anyone. If it can be improved upon let me know but don't hate on it like some people do just because it isn't theirs. i worked fairly hard to make this and hope it works for someone else. Yah the container shouldn't be clear but i like it and keep it clean. but best to buy 1 where no light goes through. I know. good luck hope this helps. let me know if you need pics of a certain part

The other hose off the pump is running to another container. just so you don't wonder why there going diff directions.

I have a suggestion for you 1982. If you like using a clear res you should consider getting one that is tinted green, or you could wrap your current one with green cellophane. Green light slows the process of photosynthesis, and whould prevent alge formation between nute soultion changes. Also just for anyone out there who doesn't know, you can use a green light bulb if you need to do maintenance in you flowering room durring a night cycle. That way you don't run any risk of reverting them back to veg.

I knew about the green tube but green during dark period. good idea. i guess if the plant uses none of that light it wouldn't know its on. def i'll use that one. thanks man. I would have switched to a dark res if it grew algae. it fits perfectly where it sits so no light really touches the sides and it helps illustrate pics easier
