How Early Can I Force Flowering?

Ok so my closet grow space is a bit small in height... only 24 inches. So... I was wondering if I could FIM the plants a couple times, keep em short with lots of tops, and then force flower when they are only like 20 inches tall? Need all the info I can get as a new grower... thanks.

Below is a pic of my set up.

i heard you can cut your plant with a razor blade a 1/2 inch from the top(CLEAN CUT) straight across and it will stop growing up and start bushing out

Love to help brother. What Colour temperature are those Floro's? I am doing MY first grow And even Flowing with just Compact Floros, and it's turning out great. Check out my grow journal and read it, i documented almost everything i could. There's great pics of them also.

Oh a quick answer to your question. You can flower at any time. There are different results however which ever time you choose. I chose to Flower from seed, and do LST for space reasons. If ya got more questions hit me back.

also it seems to be about one month before you can force flower but its all dependent on the strain but all strains will be close to this common average.

I think LST would best suit your needs, or possibly ScroG. Even with fimming/topping, i don't think you have enough height to fully control the growth. Another option would be to do a zero veg time SOG from clones, although you will need a seperate area for mothers/clones to make that work.

Whatever you do, don't grow them to 20 inches if you only have 24 inches to play with, since plants usually double or triple in height during flowering, depending on strain.

This is called topping, and will not exactly stop the plant from growing upwards, although it will slow it down and encourage lateral branching.

youre talking about switching the lights to 12/12 even if you do 12/12 from seed youre plant wont start to bud till a month or so like i said

^^^^ yeah but it'll keep the height down, thats what i'd go for with that little height, or maybe a week or two of veg, actually is it 24 inches from the pot to the light or 24 in total

The fluoros are cool white and I plan on switchin to warm when i force flower them... and I'm definately gonna check out your grow since I feel like the only one using just fluoros and cfls.

Oh... um I dont know what ScroG is. anyone help?

ScroG is short for Screen Of Green. It is basically training your plant using a net, or screen. You train the plant to stay under the screen, and allow the budsites to grow through to the light. This creates a nice, even canopy with plenty of bud sites, whilst keeping the plant small in height.

Cool white is kinda the worst floro light to use. You need bulbs in there that are 6500k or(Daylight). Cool White Is roughly 4100K. Soft White is usually 2700 -3100K

Cool white is almost equivelent to the usefullness of MOON Light.

What the plant uses For photosynthesis to occour at different stages are 6500K Noon time Daylight with extended hours 18-6 or 16-8(like spring into summer) for it's Vegitative growth. Then as the season gets shorter and the sun less intence, you mimic that with 2700K (Redder spectrum) Benifits the plants flowering cycle on shorter hours. As you can tell from this illustration 4100K Is about the furthest away from both useable colour spectrums.

You are going to want CFL's for flowering rather than Floro tubes at 2700k. CFL's are easier to position close to the plant and are a much more concentrated light source. The closer you have these to your Colas and bud sights, the tighter the nugs will form. Respectively HPS lights also at 2700K make your nugs tighter still. Generally because it's Lumen output is so much higher than CFL. Just Some FYI

I have seen this method in action, and plan to use it next grow. Seems to be the smartest way to deal with a space issue.

Oh... damn sounds like I need to get some new bulbs. I didn't do all the research i needed to and now I'm spending more than I needed on lights that aren't as good as they could be... but yeah imma get some new bulbs thx sgt.
